Thanks so much for taking the time to review my work. I chose to take my time and perform a real warmup this time and I definitely think it helped. Though I do still think I'm struggling a bit with understanding how exactly to get the flow lines down for the leaves especially when they twist and turn. Do you have any advice on how to practice it when they twist? I feel like I really lose the shape when trying to capture the leaf when it twists or is going further into the page.

Sorry about that there must have been an error with the file type maybe. Thanks!

Thanks so much for the critique. Unfortunately I didn't take the pages from the 250 box challenge with me. Do you think I should complete it again?

And I definitely see a lot of your points for the critique. Regarding the textures I really struggled with the crumpled paper analysis, however I felt like I did a better job filling with only solid black on my other texture analyses.

I really really appreciate you taking the time to go through my work and I have attached my revisions for your viewing whenever you get the chance (I know everything is sort of on hold at the moment). Thanks!

I also just finished lesson 2, was quite a relief to be done. It was pretty exhausting but rewarding as well I felt. I think your 3d shapes were all great and it was clear you got a good understanding of how things sit in 3d space. Just curious as to why you didn't go ahead with the intersections and try and challenge yourself a bit more. I also feel like you could have taken your time a bit more on the different texture assignments.

Overall I thought you did a wonderful job, keep goin!

Well done! I've also just completed lesson 2 and it was a doosy. I think one thing you could really benefit from is just taking things a bit slower. It's often hard with these lessons and exercises but it really can be worth it in the end. Try to prevent yourself from scribbling and or doing guesswork.

Some of your textures and dissections, as well as the intersections and organic arrows seem a bit rushed and messy.

Your organic intersections and organic forms were great!

Really impressive to stick with it and complete the full texture challenge! I think you took terrific notes on your textures which translated well to the final drawings. My personal favorite was the rope strands, I can tell you really put a lot of time and effort into the studies and drawings.

This community member feels the lesson should be marked as complete, and 3 others agree. The student has earned their completion badge for this lesson and should feel confident in moving onto the next lesson.

Yes I realized, and reuploaded a few days ago, just was not sure how to delete the original post.

    Thank you!

Hello, first I'd like to thank you for the critique! I definitely felt like the organic perspective gave me a lot of trouble. I didn't get a chance to see your advice before starting the 250 box challenge but I was barely a 1/4 of the way through before going back to the organic perspective exercise and I think it actually helped me grasp the concept much easier. I took your advice and used the dots method for drawing the box and think I improved a lot.

Let me know what you think and thank you again!

How to Draw by Scott Robertson

When it comes to technical drawing, there's no one better than Scott Robertson. I regularly use this book as a reference when eyeballing my perspective just won't cut it anymore. Need to figure out exactly how to rotate an object in 3D space? How to project a shape in perspective? Look no further.
