Good jo!. One little note is that at time your ellipses went outside of the frame so try to pay a little more attention on such cases.

    Next Steps:

Keep on working on the 250 box challenge and remeber to make sure to take breaks and follow the 50/50 rule to not get overwhelmed by this task

These looks really good. Nice, straight without any wobbling. Good job and good luck with the 250 challenge box.

    Next Steps:

Remember to not rush and take plenty of breaks.

    Hi ntm0110,

Before starting I just wanted to note that I'm just a beginner myself so please bear with me. Let's get started with your revision then.

    Superimposed Lines

The lines appear to be stroked with confidence and don't have to much wobbling. There are a couple lines that are fraying on both ends so try to prepare a little more your strokes to avoid this situation.

    Ghosted Lines

The lines are still drawn with confidence and have very little bit of wooble. Great job!

    Ghosted Planes

It appear you have missed this assignment.

    Tables of Ellipses

Impressive job! Nothing much to say, you applied all the lesson's teachings and built some really nice ellipses.

    Ellipses in Planes

Again, another great job! You clearly know how to create some confident drawn ellipses. One little note is that at time your ellipses went outside of the frame so try to pay a little more attention on such cases.

    Funnels

The ellipses are corretly aligned to the minor axis, are snugled together and don't stray from the funnel. Good job!

    Plotted Perspective

    Good work!

    Rough Perspective

The boxes are built sufficently well (good use of the ghosting method) and the depth lines show that you made a good job on maintaining the one point perspective. Some of the lines needed a little bit more attention when built though. Remember that all horizontal lines run perfectly parallel to the horizon and that vertical lines run perfectly perpendicular to the horizon: place points and use the ghosting method to better make them and remeber this instructions.

    Rotated Boxes

Like the lesson already warned this is a very difficoult assignment. Overall, thought, you made a good job: the lines are confident without much wobbling, you draw through your boxes form. The cubes closer to the corners are the weirdest ones: try making better use of the surrounding boxes and remember that they are still rotating together with the rest.

    Organic Perspective

Most of the boxes follow the line you made initially but you could have better conveyed the depth of scene: try making the initial boxes bigger in the future. The boxes could be better built but I'm sure you will get a better grasp of it when doing the 250 box challenge.

We are done and congratulations on finishing the first lesson. Keep up with the good work!!

    Next Steps:

Just complete the lesson by making two pages of Ghosted Planes.

When finished, reply to this critique with your revisions.

    Hi Xyklope,

    Superimposed Lines

The lines appear to be stroked with confidence and don't have to much wobbling. There are a couple lines that are fraying on both ends so try to prepare a little more your strokes to avoid this situation.

    Ghosted Lines

The lines are still drawn with confidence and have very little bit of wooble. Great job!

    Ghosted Planes

Very good work! The lines are confident, don't have much wobbling and show a good use of all the previous techniques.

    Tables of Ellipses

Impressive job! Nothing much to say, you applied all the lesson's teachings and built some really nice ellipses. In the future try changing the degree of your ellipses and also play with their angle to challenge yourself on different shapes and positions.

    Ellipses in Planes

Again, another good job! You clearly know how to create some confident drawn ellipses. One little note is that at times some ellipses don't touch the four edges of the plane so try to the ghosting method more in the future.

    Funnels

The ellipses are corretly aligned to the minor axis, are snugled together and don't stray from the funnel. Good job!

    Plotted Perspective

    Good work!

    Rough Perspective

The boxes are built well (good use of the ghosting method) and the depth lines show that you made a good job on maintaining the one point perspective and correctly placing each lines.

    Rotated Boxes

Like the lesson already warned this is a very difficoult assignment. Overall, thought, you made a good job: the lines are confident without too much wobbling, you draw through your boxes form and tried your best to use your surroundings to best place the boxes. The cubes closer to the corners are the weirdest ones but it still show that you attempted to rotate them. In the future try to increse the degree of the rotation of the final boxes.

    Organic Perspective

Good job! Most of the boxes follow the line you made initially and you have correctly conveyed the depth of scene. Remember to keep using the ghosting method since I noticed the lines here are bit rougher compared from the ones the assignments before.

We are done and congratulations on finishing the first lesson. Keep up with the good work!!

    Next Steps:

Just remember to keep using the ghosting method so to draw confident and clear strokes. Good luck on the 250 box challenge!!

    Hi Tired_hamster2,

Before starting I just wanted to note that I'm just a beginner myself so please bear with me. Let's get started with your revision then.

    Superimposed Lines

The lines appear to be stroked with confidence and don't have to much wobbling. There are a couple lines that are fraying on both ends so try to prepare a little more your strokes to avoid this situation.

    Ghosted Lines

The lines are still drawn with confidence but some still have a little bit of woobling. Remember that at this phase the most important task is making a fine and confident stroke so don't be afraid of overshooting/undershooting or missing your points.

    Ghosted Planes

Good work! The lines are confident, don't have much wobbling and show a good use of all the previous techniques. Some lines still appear wobble a bit (especially the ones that bisect the plane) but is nothing that more practice in the future won't fix.

    Tables of Ellipses

Good job! You made some really nice ellipses. A couple of things to note though first. In the future try changing the degree of your ellipses and also play with their angle to challenge yourself on different shapes and positions. Another suggestion is to bisect your section using a "wavier" lines so that the space become more irregular challenging you to fill it with different type of ellipses and circles.

    Ellipses in Planes

One thing I have notice is that you often don't truly draw your through ellipses. This is a very important step that allows you to gain the confidence necessary to make more even and smooth lines: without it your ellipses will often come out deformed and wobbled. Remember that at the moment a more confident stroke is more important then overral accuracy.

    Funnels

The ellipses are corretly aligned to the minor axis, are snugled together and don't stray from the funnel. Good job! Please still refer to my previous comments for better make these ellipses.

    Plotted Perspective

    Good work!

    Rough Perspective

Good job! I can see that even thought you had some difficulties when you started this assegnament, you then managed to succefully complete it by the second page. Just remember that each line has it's rule has been said here.

    Rotated Boxes

Like the lesson already warned this is a very difficoult assignment. Overall there are a couple things you could have done to improve it:

    1. Try to better follow all the instructions made on the lesson: start by making the cubes on the two axis and from there using this "skeleton" to place all the others by adapting on your surroundings.

    2. Adding some line weight on the right place would improve the visibility of your work: refer to this example

    3. Don't be afraid to space more the boxes.

    Organic Perspective

Good job! Most of the boxes follow the line you made initially and you have correctly conveyed the depth of scene. The boxes could get some improvements but I'm sure you will get a better grasp of it when doing the 250 box challenge.

    Overall a good job, congratulations!

    Next Steps:

I see that you had some problem at keeping your lines steady and the biggest suggestion I can give you is too keep ghosting your lines. You may need to ghost three time or maybe ten but try to keep it up with time and practice this number will surely go down. Read again this section and don't be discouraged if you "don't get it" immediatly.

Please try one more page of Ellipses in Planes following the advice I gave you and I can then let you procede to the next phase: the 250 challenge box.

    Hi Rocketcatz,

Before starting I just wanted to note that I'm just a beginner myself so please bear with me. Let's get started with your revision then.

    Superimposed Lines

The lines appear to be stroked with confidence and don't have to much wobbling. There are a couple lines, specially the curved ones, that are fraying on both ends so try to prepare a little more your strokes to avoid this situation.

    Ghosted Lines

The lines are still drawn with confidence and have very little bit of wooble. Good job!!

    Ghosted Planes

It appear you have missed this assignment

    Tables of Ellipses

Impressive job! Nothing much to say, you applied all the lesson's teachings and built some really nice ellipses.

    Ellipses in Planes

Again, another great job! You clearly know how to create some confident drawn ellipses.

    Funnels

The ellipses are corretly aligned to the minor axis, snugled together and don't stray from the funnel. Good job!

    Plotted Perspective

    Good work!

    Rough Perspective

Some of the initial rectangles needed a little bit more attention when built. Remember that all horizontal lines run perfectly parallel to the horizon and that vertical lines run perfectly perpendicular to the horizon: place points and use the ghosting method to better make them.

Other than that the assignment was well done, specially the last two frames.

    Rotated Boxes

Like the lesson already warned this is a very difficoult assignment. Overall, thought, you made a good job: the lines are confident without much wobbling, you draw through your boxes form and tried your best to use your surroundings to best place the boxes. Good use of the etching and line weight. The cubes closer to the corners are the weirdest ones and needed a greater rotation (the upper vertical ones for example). Another note is that you don't need to be afraid to space more the boxes.

    Organic Perspective

Good job! Most of the boxes follow the line you made initially and, expecially by the second page, you have correctly conveyed the depth of scene.

    Next Steps:

The only things missing is the two Ghosted Planes pages and I can then let you pass to the 250 box challenge

    Ghosted Lines

The lines are still drawn with confidence and have little bit of wooble but the main problem is that you often tend to undershoot/overshoot or outright miss the points you placed.

    Ghosted Planes

Very good work! The lines are confident, don't have much wobbling and show a good use of all the previous techniques. Some lines still appear to be a little undershooted but overall this is a big improvement from the previous assignment.

    Rough Perspective

The boxes are built sufficently well (good use of the ghosting method) and the depth lines show that you made a good job on maintaining the one point perspective. The only problem is that your boxes are very long and this partly defeating one of the biggest hurdles of this assegnament by creating boxes very close to the vp.

    Rotated Boxes

Overall, thought, you made a good job: the lines are confident without much wobbling, you draw through your boxes form and tried your best to use your surroundings to best place the boxes. PureRef

PureRef

This is another one of those things that aren't sold through Amazon, so I don't get a commission on it - but it's just too good to leave out. PureRef is a fantastic piece of software that is both Windows and Mac compatible. It's used for collecting reference and compiling them into a moodboard. You can move them around freely, have them automatically arranged, zoom in/out and even scale/flip/rotate images as you please. If needed, you can also add little text notes.

When starting on a project, I'll often open it up and start dragging reference images off the internet onto the board. When I'm done, I'll save out a '.pur' file, which embeds all the images. They can get pretty big, but are way more convenient than hauling around folders full of separate images.

Did I mention you can get it for free? The developer allows you to pay whatever amount you want for it. They recommend $5, but they'll allow you to take it for nothing. Really though, with software this versatile and polished, you really should throw them a few bucks if you pick it up. It's more than worth it.
