hi this is Emoki or bappityboop on discord and ill be crituqing your lesson 1. I will be splitting this into 3 sections, lines elipses and boxes.

Lines:

your super imposed lines look very good, your lines seem to be confident, and you are following the steps for good lines. in the 2nd page i can see that you managed to improve your accuracy while keeping the confidence. The only issue i see is fraying on one end which is to be expected when you first begin.

Ghosted Lines,

your lines hit your targets or barely miss them which is good however because of this you are sacirficing confidence for accuraccy. some of your lines are wobbly and arch a bit. However most of them are fine and look good. Its okay to miss the mark as long as your lines are confident and straight. Your accuracy will improve with practice.

Ghosted Planes,

your ghosted planes look good and your accuracy and confidence has improved. However your lines do arch sometimes or miss their mark. this is only sometimes though, one tip is to try out different angles for the ghosted planes, which can help your view of 3d space and be more fun.

Elipses:

Table of elipses, your elipses look good however there are some recourring issues. some elipses are drawn through only 1 time, the reccomended amount being drawn through 2 to 3 times.(perferbally 2) your elipses are uncofident at sometimes and very wobbily. Again you are piritozing accuracy and fitting the elipses in the box and ignoring having confident elipses.

Elipses in planes,

good job some of your elipses look very good, they are confident and fit into the planes nicely. though some have issues of the table of elipses, being sometimes wobbly. always remeber to draw with your wrist even when doing the elipses.

Elipses in funnels,

make sure to have the line in the middle, {minor axis] to cut the elipses in 2 equal halves. And again some of the elipses are only drawn through 1 time not 2-3 times. Your elipses lack confidence and because of that it makes them wobbly. However some of your funnels look very good and confident. always remeber to take your time and value confidence over accuracy, accuracy will come with practice.

Boxes

Plotted perspective,

Great job this looks amazing, you drew through the boxes, shaded on the correct sides, and your boxes do not look distorted. Good job

Rough perspective

, again you did pretty good, however you repeat the same mistakes you did in other excercies, your lines are wobbly and are not confident. Though you have done really well with the idea of perspective and the boxes in 3d space, and you seem to have improved throughout the pages.

Rotated boxes,

this is a hard excercise and you did very good, you keptthe corners close and all of your boxes are rotating. some of your lines are wobbly but thats really it good job.

Organic perspective,

good job, your work shoudlnt look exacatly like comfys but you should be attempting to understand 3d space. your boxes do get smaller when they are farther away however you do make some mistakes, Some of your boxes arent boxes, all the lines are not paralell. and you do make mistakes in rotation and perspective but you will overcome those mistakes in 250 box challenge.

Next Steps:

Goodbyes

great job, i want you to move on to 250 box challenge but remember a couple things, confidence over accuraccy, do all these excercies in your warmups to improve and get better.

Hi I3L4CK,

Before starting I just wanted to note that I'm just a beginner myself so please bear with me. Let's get started with your revision then.

Superimposed Lines

The lines appear to be stroked with confidence and don't have to much wobbling. There are a couple lines that are fraying on both ends so try to prepare a little more your strokes to avoid this situation.

Ghosted Lines

The lines are still drawn with confidence and have little bit of wooble but the main problem is that you often tend to undershoot/overshoot or outright miss the points you placed.

Ghosted Planes

Very good work! The lines are confident, don't have much wobbling and show a good use of all the previous techniques. Some lines still appear to be a little undershooted but overall this is a big improvement from the previous assignment.

Tables of Ellipses

Impressive job! Nothing much to say, you applied all the lesson's teachings and built some really nice ellipses.

Ellipses in Planes

Again, another great job! You clearly know how to create some confident drawn ellipses. One little note is that at time your ellipses went outside of the frame so try to pay a little more attention on such cases.

Funnels

The ellipses are corretly aligned to the minor axis, are snugled together and don't stray from the funnel. Good job!

Plotted Perspective

Good work!

Rough Perspective

The boxes are built sufficently well (good use of the ghosting method) and the depth lines show that you made a good job on maintaining the one point perspective. The only problem is that your boxes are very long and this partly defeating one of the biggest hurdles of this assegnament by creating boxes very close to the vp.

Rotated Boxes

Like the lesson already warned this is a very difficoult assignment. Overall, thought, you made a good job: the lines are confident without much wobbling, you draw through your boxes form and tried your best to use your surroundings to best place the boxes. The cubes closer to the corners are the weirdest ones but it still show that you attempted to rotate them.

Organic Perspective

Good job! Most of the boxes follow the line you made initially and, expecially by the second page, you have correctly conveyed the depth of scene.

We are done and congratulations on finishing the first lesson. Keep up with the good work!!

Next Steps:

You are ready to pass on the 250 box challenge.

PureRef

PureRef

This is another one of those things that aren't sold through Amazon, so I don't get a commission on it - but it's just too good to leave out. PureRef is a fantastic piece of software that is both Windows and Mac compatible. It's used for collecting reference and compiling them into a moodboard. You can move them around freely, have them automatically arranged, zoom in/out and even scale/flip/rotate images as you please. If needed, you can also add little text notes.

When starting on a project, I'll often open it up and start dragging reference images off the internet onto the board. When I'm done, I'll save out a '.pur' file, which embeds all the images. They can get pretty big, but are way more convenient than hauling around folders full of separate images.

Did I mention you can get it for free? The developer allows you to pay whatever amount you want for it. They recommend $5, but they'll allow you to take it for nothing. Really though, with software this versatile and polished, you really should throw them a few bucks if you pick it up. It's more than worth it.
