Yay! Thank you so much for your really nice and motivating feedback. :)
Yay! Thank you so much for your really nice and motivating feedback. :)
Amazing! Thank you so much for the nice words and the additional feedback.
Hi Uncomfortable,
Sorry for misunderstanding your first critique. I feel like I got confused somewhere - perhaps it was really a lot for my brain to process. It might be also some communication issue - English is my second language. I went through everything again and I hope that I managed to do the homework correctly this time.
It took me very long to finish these. I think I drew all of these animals a couple of times before getting it (hopefully) kind of right (still made some mistakes though). I have a feeling that I see the construction more clearly now, so the revision helped for sure. Still, to be honest, I feel a bit scared to submit! Perhaps, if there are still many points to improve, I should maybe re-do the whole lesson... Please let me know. I really would like to improve, and I'm looking forward to your feedback :).

Hi Uncomfortable,
Thanks a million for the extensive feedback! I'm sorry to have taken so much of your time. I feel like I rushed this lesson too much and that's why I made many mistakes.
I took a step back and did more exercises and demos to tackle the points that you mentioned. It took a while, but here it is finally - the re-submission.
I realized that I struggled a lot with heads - especially with horse heads - so I included a page of these.
I tried my best to improve on all the points, but I still struggled, especially with adding the masses (like in the point D from your feedback). Sometimes I really couldn't figure how to draw it - most of the time I added some contour lines to help myself imagine these masses in 3D.

Thank you again,
Best,

Thank you so much for your critique! I haven't realized I'm making these mistakes (especially the flat parts of the wasps! this was an eye opener), so many thanks for your help.
I'm happy and excited to continue with the lesson 5 :)
Thank you so much for the feedback! It was very helpful.
Thank you Scylla for the critique! I see more of my mistakes now, and your hints will surely help me improve. Thanks again, I'm excited to start with the next lesson! :)
I'm struggling with the same problem - it is very difficult for me to visualize the VPs and to draw the extensions of the lines in the correct direction (away from the viewer).
For me the mentioned YT videos were useful, as well as simply turning the page around a lot. I realized that from certain angles it's easier for me to visualize the VP and to draw the line extensions.
Moreover, for the first 10 boxes or so, I tried to check myself with a, well, actual box - I have some small almost cubical carton box lying around. I turned it in my hand so I could help myself visualize the vps in space, and then try to put it on paper. I did it only for the first few boxes, so I hope it's not considered cheating ;)
Hi Rob,
Thank you so much for this elaborate and extremely fast critique!
I had the same feeling about my elipses - I will make sure to incorporate them in the warmups.
I'll proceed with the challenge then.
Many thanks again and have a good weekend.
These are what I use when doing these exercises. They usually run somewhere in the middle of the price/quality range, and are often sold in sets of different line weights - remember that for the Drawabox lessons, we only really use the 0.5s, so try and find sets that sell only one size.
Alternatively, if at all possible, going to an art supply store and buying the pens in person is often better because they'll generally sell them individually and allow you to test them out before you buy (to weed out any duds).
