I found it difficult to judge scale, after doing the last one i figured i could have just used the other objects in the scene for measuring.

I didn't spend much time on the composition as i found drawing the enviroment itself quite challenging already >.<

edit: i had forgotten about your state of union post, is there still enough room for a critique if i pledge now? I was planning on doing it after finishing your course first.

Welcome back :)

Movie stills, Compositions

I redid a few of them and think i did a good job with the balance and creating focal points, but im unsure about the other elements as it was difficult for me to keep track of them all. Looking forward to hearing your reply, i wouldnt mind repeating this lesson.

Lovely painting as always!

A question popped up in me while watching the proces this time however.

How well does line drawing skills, like the ones we do in the exercises, carry over to painting?

I noticed that a lot of professional artists start with shapes and values right away when painting, so is it like a completely different approach?

Bit messy, got more confident towards the end. Elipses are off aswell.

What is your opinion on applying line weight with a ruler?

I had a hard time finding the ribcage and pelvis in some of these, the torso just looks like a big ball of fur to me, i have this issue with drawing people aswell.

Ps: the force animal drawing book was really helpfull.

This is definitly the hardest exercise ive done so far, but fun at the same time ;)

I did my best to plan ahead instead of thinking on the paper like you told me to.

Little question, how do you use references?

Do we have to draw the same "pose" and angle (using the methods we have learned ofcourse) of the object or should we draw a different pose/pov and only use the reference as a guidance to see how leaves twist etc.

As i cant bring myself to start lesson 3 without being fully satisfied, i drew 100 boxes, 70 cilinders and 3 textured organic forms.

I think my boxes have improved a lot after taking another look at my homework.

Got a bit messy at the form intersections. I had troubles with the intersection between a sphere and a cilinder aswell and it felt a bit random.

The rest went okay i think.
