Hello, looking at your pictures you did very good! Only problems I've seen is that when drawing your ellipses, you drew through them more than 2-3 times, we are only supposed to do it 2-3 times, so try to limit yourself to drawing through 2-3 times. Also, on your table of ellipses they were somewhat overlapping but other than that they all where kept in line and looked good. Your rotated boxes looked great, ghosted planes looked nice, your ghosted and superimposed lines looked good, you only had fraying on one end which is good. Organic perspective was good and the rough perspective looked nice too, they were all in line with the horizon line. You did have some boxes where one of the vertical lines weren't perpendicular to the horizon line but it's okay cause the next challenge will help you out with that. Plotted perspective looked good too and your funnels were good. Nice job, I'm going to pass you!

    Next Steps:

So, your going to move on into the 250 box challenge. A recommendation I can give is to do warm-ups before starting each session of the challenge. You may use the exercises in lesson 1 that you learned and I suggest doing ghosted lines and planes but feel free to use the others if you'd like. Good job and keep up the good work. :)

Hello, you did great! Your super imposed lines looked very clean, and your ghosted lines looked really nice. You do have a little bit of archs on some of the ghosted planes but other then that they look really good. Even though you said you had trouble on your ellipses they came out good. You did have some overlapping in the table but with practice, drawing ellipses will come much easier. The funnels looked good too! Your rough and plotted respective looked very nice too. Your rotated boxes and organic perspective all came out nice! So good job :) I'm gonna pass you and let you move on to the 250 box challenge.

    Next Steps:

Next start the 250 box challenge. A recommendation I give is definitely do warm-ups when starting each session of the 250 box challenge. This will help you, even with trying to use your shoulder, since you did say you were using your wrist a bit. You can use lesson 1 exercises as a warm up, I sugget doing the ghosted lines and planes, but feel free to choose the others :) Keep up the good work!

No problem! Thank you for doing this, they look great! :) Yeah, I'm not as trained in my shoulder either like I like to be, still learning too. But with enough practice you'll be able to get there, and it will be become easier, keep pushing through. So, I'm gonna pass you and you may move on to the 250 box challenge.

    Next Steps:

So, a recommendation I can give, is do some warm-ups when doing each session of the 250 box challenge. They will help a lot. You can also use lesson 1 exercises to do the warm-ups, I suggest you do the ghosted lines and ghosted planes for this challenge, but feel free to do the others. Good job and keep up the good work! :)

Looking at your pictures, you did okay. Some things to point out is, on your ghosted lines they seemed a little wobbly and in drawabox, we want confidence more than accuracy. Next, your ellipses in the table weren't all touching. Also, on your funnels not all of the circles were cut in half symmetrically with the minor axis. For your rough perspective, you didn't draw through the boxes. Other than that, your rotated boxes looked good and your organic perspective, it was okay, should've had some lineweight where the boxes overlapped. Other than that, you did pretty good!

    Next Steps:

So, I would like you to redo the rough perspective exercise and draw through your boxes. This will help you, as drawbox is trying to help you to start to think of shapes in a more 3D space. So do it again, and draw through them this time. Other then that, you should be ready for the next challenge after.

When finished, reply to this critique with your revisions.

You did a very good job, your rotated boxes looked solid. Even the super imposed lines, ghosting, planes, and ellipses looked really nice! Some pointers, is on your rough persepctive exercise, you did point it out, but do make sure to have the back line and back corner lines all meet, they were sometimes off, so keep that in mind, they should all be meeting together. Also, in your organic box exercise you seem to have an incomplete box in there so, just wanted to point out to make sure your completing all the boxes while doing it. Other then that, it all looks really solid.

    Next Steps:

So move onto the upcoming challenge which is the 250 box challenge, just keep in mind the vp and how the back corner meets and also you did have some diverging lines so keep in mind all lines go to the respective vp. Also, you can use these exercises you learned here as warm-ups, so keep moving foward, your doing great :)!

The Art of Brom

The Art of Brom

Here we're getting into the subjective - Gerald Brom is one of my favourite artists (and a pretty fantastic novelist!). That said, if I recommended art books just for the beautiful images contained therein, my list of recommendations would be miles long.

The reason this book is close to my heart is because of its introduction, where Brom goes explains in detail just how he went from being an army brat to one of the most highly respected dark fantasy artists in the world today. I believe that one's work is flavoured by their life's experiences, and discovering the roots from which other artists hail can help give one perspective on their own beginnings, and perhaps their eventual destination as well.
