Hi all!

Like many others before me, I've been drawing seriously for quite a while, but I eventually came to the conclusion that my skills were lacking at a very basic level. For instance, I've always relied on repeated small strokes instead of continuous lines, and I got away with it by blending the lines together so well that most of the time it's unnoticeable. However I feel that at this point my lack of accuracy and confidence in my lines is dragging me back, so I've come to Drawabox to change that.

So, there's my short bio. Thank you for your time, and have a nice day! :)

You did a very good job, your rotated boxes looked solid. Even the super imposed lines, ghosting, planes, and ellipses looked really nice! Some pointers, is on your rough persepctive exercise, you did point it out, but do make sure to have the back line and back corner lines all meet, they were sometimes off, so keep that in mind, they should all be meeting together. Also, in your organic box exercise you seem to have an incomplete box in there so, just wanted to point out to make sure your completing all the boxes while doing it. Other then that, it all looks really solid.

Next Steps:

So move onto the upcoming challenge which is the 250 box challenge, just keep in mind the vp and how the back corner meets and also you did have some diverging lines so keep in mind all lines go to the respective vp. Also, you can use these exercises you learned here as warm-ups, so keep moving foward, your doing great :)!

Ah yes, I struggled at first with making the back lines of the boxes meet. I would draw them last and then realize how far off I must have been with each line to have it end up like this.

Thank you for your comments! I'll keep them in mind as I move forward. :)

While I have a massive library of non-instructional art books I've collected over the years, there's only a handful that are actually important to me. This is one of them - so much so that I jammed my copy into my overstuffed backpack when flying back from my parents' house just so I could have it at my apartment. My back's been sore for a week.

The reason I hold this book in such high esteem is because of how it puts the relatively new field of game art into perspective, showing how concept art really just started off as crude sketches intended to communicate ideas to storytellers, designers and 3D modelers. How all of this focus on beautiful illustrations is really secondary to the core of a concept artist's job. A real eye-opener.
