Heya Anna27! congratulation on finishing the lesson 1 of the drawabox course, touching briefly on your work here i must say it's very well done and now lets move on to the feed back

Starting off at the first section of the lesson Lines exercise, your work on this section is well done your lines are confident and quite accurate and i see little to no wobbling here.

Moving on to the second section of the lesson Ellipses exercise, keeping up the good work it's nice to see that these ellipses are spaced out nicely and the lines are smooth and confident, though a little nitpick here is that i wish to see a little more variety of degrees in the funnels exercise, other than that i have little to say in this section.

And lastly the third section of the lesson Boxes exercise, your work on the plotted perspective and rough perspective are well done. In the rotated boxes exercise however i see that some of your boxes corners had a noticeable gap between them and i see that had you rotated your boxes more you could've made a rounder silhouette. Your work on the organic perspective exercise are nice but i think i see attempts being made to add line weight, while it's encouraged you should only add line weight to parts of the line rather than to superimpose the whole line since that leads to overworking your lines and keeps your mistakes vague.

And thats all i have to say about your work hopefully you can learn more from this.

    Next Steps:

    move to 250 boxes challenge

Heya Hacknslash54! congratulations on finishing lesson 1 of the drawabox course and here hopes for you to finish the rest also!

Starting off with the first section of the lesson Lines, your work on the superimposed lines exercise and ghoted lines are done quite well, but on the ghosted planes exercise i see that you're trying to correct your mistakes here which you shoudn't do and i will elaborate later.

Next on the line is the second section of the exercise Ellipses, in these exercise it's nice to see that youve kept the space between the ellipses tight and your ellipses in the planes exercise are touching the sides, but something i must point out is only draw through your ellipses twice or thrice no more no less drawing the ellipses more than once will make the ellipses overworked it keeps your mistakes vague not only that but the correct lines that you make will also be vague drawing them once will make them flat and wobbly. Other than that i wish to see more variety of degrees in your funnels exercise.

And lastly the third section of lesson 1 Boxes exercise, theres still the same mistake from the first section of the excersise trying to correct mistakes which you shoudn't do, moving on from that your work on the plotted exercise and also the rough exercise are done well and other than little nitpicks that can be made its a pretty good job, however in the rotated boxes exercise some of the boxes aren't rotated enough and some of the boxes corners aren't placed correctly creating wide gaps, but since this excersise is made for you to fail you shouldn't fret too much over these. and lastly the organic perspective exercise form wise its a good work but i must point out that if you want to thicken the lines to give it weight you shoudnt make the imposed line through a little part of the line being imposed is enough to impose the whole line is not needed.

And for the last note i see a major theme in trying to correct your mistakes in these excersise i must tell you that mistakes are natural mistakes are celebrated trying to correct these mistakes will only lead to overworking the lines and making the mistakes vague if you see a mistake dont try to correct it just leave it and move on its natural to feel like you want to correct the mistakes but please dont try to correct it, you can correct your mistakes on the next line that you make or the next plane that you make or the next ellipse that you make, correct your mistakes on your next work rather than the one that you've already made in general we try to make a celebration of mistakes if you're in the drawabox discord theres a whole channel dedicated to it (#that-went-poorly), in this channel we know what we made was bad but we're proud that we went ahead and made it anyway so dont be down if you made a mistake and just move on correcting it in your next work. as for the next step i think you should move on to the 250 boxes challenge after reading this article uncomfy made (https://drawabox.com/article/ink) it briefly touches what im trying to say but i think you should listen to uncomfy himself since im just some rando trying to give proper critique, see ya and good luck!

Hiya Mintymeyon! congratulations on finishing the lesson 1 of the drawabox program and hopefully i can make the most of your appreciation here.

Starting off with the lines section of the excersises, you've done really well on these excersises your lines are both confident and accurate, fraying on the end side of the superimposed lines are to be expected and confidence is prioritized which you've did beautifully. Next on to the ellipses section of the excersises, you've also did well on these you've kept the ellipses tight and accurate and also drawn through them theres nothing much to point out other than to improve on the tightness of th draw through lines. Lastly the boxes excersise, you've also did a good job on these in though i think you could add more boxes in the rotated boxes excersise in each quadrant to get a rounder sillouette other than dad its a very nice job

For the last note i am impressed of the work you've done and i think moving onto the 250 boxes challenge would be right for you.

Hey Artrecon81 congratulations on finishing the lesson 1 excersises in my opinion the wroks that you've done are quite good but there are still some things to say

Starting off with the first section of the excersise Lines in general it seems like theres a bit of wobbling in your ghosted lines especially in the second ghosted planes exercise that you did, keep in mind that in drawabox confidence is prioritized before accuracy, to have confidence lines you should draw the lines in a quick motion to minimize hesitation other than that lets move to the next section. ellipses in the ellipses excersise you've done quite the good job you've kept your ellipses tight in the tables excersise and you've drawn through most fo the ellipse that youve made other than the minor amount of wobble that are present in some of it you've done well. And lastly the boxes excersise you've done quite a good job on these but i must point out that on your rough perspective in the first work you plotted them to the vanishing point rather than to where the lines would land and to that you should follow the instruction provided by the excersises to get the optimal result.

As a last note you've done quite well other than those that i have pointed out and you should move to the next step

    Next Steps:

move on to the 250 boxes challenge

Hello Pencilmonk congratulations on finishing your lesson 1 excersises and lets go discussing how you've done

First of all lets go ahead and start on the lines excersise, in the super imposed lines exercise you've done a very good job on both keeping the lines confident and keping it it from fraying from both ends, however it seems like in both ghosting exercise and ghosted planes excersise there are some wobbling in your work, keep in mind that the drawabox prioritizes confidence over accuracy, other than that lets move on to the ellipses excersise. The one thing i need to say about your ellipses excersise is that theres a quite high amount of wobbling in your work, other than that your accuracy in the ellipses excersise are high but you still should priorotize confidence over accuracy. Moving onto the boxes excersise, in the plotted perspective excersise i see that on some of your boxes the vertical lines aren't straight and otherwise a bit tilted, since in this exerecise you're allowed to use tools you should use them to the best of your abilities. In the rough perspective i see that you're plotting your lines toward the vanishing point rather than where your lines would've landed while you're doing the drawabox lesson you should follow the instruction to the best of your abilities to get the optimal result other than that theres a bit of wobbling too. In the rotated boxes excersise i see that you didnt rotate them enough and you've also left quite a wide gap between the corners of your boxes, while theres mistakes here you shoudnt fret over it since this excersise is designed for you to fail. In the organic perspective exercise theres not much to point out here and you've done it quite well.

as for the next step i think you should move on to the 250 boxes challenge while there are mistakes here i believe when you've finished the 250 boxes challenge it will be less prominent though i believe you should work on your confident lines while doing the 250 boxes challenge.

    Next Steps:

Move on to the 250 boxes while working on your confidence on markmaking

The Science of Deciding What You Should Draw

The Science of Deciding What You Should Draw

Right from when students hit the 50% rule early on in Lesson 0, they ask the same question - "What am I supposed to draw?"

It's not magic. We're made to think that when someone just whips off interesting things to draw, that they're gifted in a way that we are not. The problem isn't that we don't have ideas - it's that the ideas we have are so vague, they feel like nothing at all. In this course, we're going to look at how we can explore, pursue, and develop those fuzzy notions into something more concrete.
