Hi! No rush on feedback for these.

I did 10 more thumbnails, trying to keep your feedback in mind: more foreground elements, a larger value range, and more thirds and less halves.

I also tried a couple different ways to do thumbnails, delaying the blending to later. I found that using the hard colors made me get to a concept faster than random foggy swathes. I did alternate though, since it seems most others go from abstract to concrete...)

(If this "extra" feedback is a burden, since it's for a lesson already complete, just let me know and I'll stop :))

Thanks for the heads up. I'll be switching over to composition next I think, and then coming back to the figure stuff. Meanwhile practicing bits from the first 2 lessons.

I'll check out those new videos and demos soon too.

Gone! Here you go: http://imgur.com/a/5rtzV

I think I did alright, especially when there were plenty of wheels and boxes to make the proportions and forms a little (a lot) easier.

I picked a tough motorcycle image and hit the dirt pretty hard. The perspective and angle of the front wheel tripped me up.

Edit: also my Superfine pen died halfway through it, so I switched to an F.

Hi! Some ideas:

You're more familiar with managing this whole thing. But I just wanted to drop some thoughts in here.

slavingia in the post "Lesson 7: Drawing Vehicles"

Axes, bigger, basic forms. Going!

Wanted to submit the forms before the full vehicles. Here they are - https://imgur.com/a/cBjIf

The chicken scratch returned a bit, but I tried hard to mitigate it. I feel it pops up when tackling harder problems and goes away as I gain confidence in drawing the more complex shapes.

slavingia in the post "Lesson 6: Drawing Everyday Objects"

2016-08-11 19:52

Ah, that's a good point. I'll draw boxes (or well, trapezoids) and then turn 'em into curves. The shampoo bottle was a little easier (and hopefully more accurate) because I was able to use a lightly-drawn sphere and then just fill in the top hemisphere, but on stuff like the gatorade bottle and the olive oil bottle, I failed pretty badly.

Good to know and keep in mind as I draw some TANKS ^and ^cars ^and ^stuff ^too ^i ^guess

And here are the six pages of everyday objects. Tried to split them equally to focus on both cylinders and boxes. Drew bigger. More thought behind each line. Got a little cocky and tried a shoe, which did not go well. The rest... okay I think.

Here are my new intersections. No need to provide a ton of feedback on these, just wanted to get them uploaded before I start on the objects just in case there's something glaringly off: https://imgur.com/a/kXgyJ

Compared to last time, I think these are much better. That was definitely the toughest exercise from that lesson.

Woowee. Off I go!

slavingia in the post "Lesson 6: Drawing Everyday Objects"

2016-08-07 16:08

It seems like people drop off after animals. I can see why... but I will persist! Here you go: http://imgur.com/a/fUpL6

I struggled quite a lot (this is maybe half of what I ended up drawing), and ended up drawing smaller because my big boxes and cylinders were pretty distorted. Also a little too much chicken scratching, as I really wanted to correct the lines before I committed.

I feel with animals, you can make a mistake and it doesn't look as wrong, or it's more easily correctable (organic) but here, mistakes are not very forgiving.

Anyways, rant over. Thanks for reviewing!

By the way, do you prefer Imgur or Dropbox submissions? Happened to be away from a laptop this time, hence DB, but happy to use whatever is faster for you if there's a preference!

As you said about my rhino, "head is dumb," so I attempted another one separately. It was too late, but I did notice the ellipses I added to the body to indicate volume were far too thin. I did another goat with that correction, which I've uploaded separately here: http://imgur.com/a/p9bFF

Hi! I've added four more pages of work, focused on the construction.

I tried to be conscious of:

I think I'm improving, or at least increasing the "floor" of my work. Still struggling with more complex animal faces, like the giraffe's (and still not great at horses', and ew at eyes), so I'm going to work on that in the meantime.

They're at the bottom here: http://imgur.com/a/sueKI

slavingia in the post "Lesson 5: Drawing Animals"

That's really useful feedback. I'll get to it!

slavingia in the post "Lesson 5: Drawing Animals"

2016-07-27 23:27

The going got tough! Jeez, what I would give to go back to drawing creepy crawlies :)

Here you go http://imgur.com/a/sueKI

I especially struggled with fur. Trying to deduce where the blobs should be is really tricky when everything kind of fades together in pictures.

(Especially when a face turns into a neck turns into the body, like with wolves.)

Birds were relatively okay, I think. The rest needs work. Especially the hybrid ones from imagination :P

Finally, a shoutout to /u/Serpes/ for the great resource.

slavingia in the post "Lesson 4: Drawing Insects and Arachnids"

2016-07-24 02:42

Here you are! I've tried to be more aware of drawing each line with purpose, so there should be less scribbles :)

http://imgur.com/a/ktCnB

I did have one issue, I thought, which is that some of the bugs are relatively simple (the lady bug, the dung beetle), and so the drawings look very flat/boring. Maybe I just need to work on my texturing more?

I tried a couple different ways to imply shading/highlighting, sometimes in the same drawing, like the ant, so I could see iterate depending on what ended up looking better.

Thanks!

I feel that my textures are coming off too flat. I will start on the 25 texture challenge shortly. Construction-wise, I clearly have a lot to work on, but I do feel like I am improving, slowly.
