At the moment, when I look at it, the shorter the gap between two circles, the better it looks. I think I should have placed more circles around the sharper curves. Anyway, that's my assignment.

dude, your homework submission is better than 80-90% of submission i've seen. To be honest your submission for lesson 1 is better than mine :D Just take 2-3 exerciese that makes u most issues and do them as warm-up (Ellipses in Planes, Funnels and Organic Perspective if i were you) spend 15-20 min on it. There is no point i staying in this lesson. Tipically im telling ppl to check this 3 section, but in ur case looks like you do understand 3D perspective :s https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/22/step2

    Hi,

    Lines:

Superimposed Lines - looks good to me. Keep in mind to avoid making fraying on both ends.

Ghosted Lines - looks good IMO, keep practicing.

Ghosted Planes - no visible issues.

    Ellipses:

Table of Ellipses - looks good overall. No issues here.

Ellipses in Planes - same there, keep practicing it.

Funnels - Circles could expand as they move away from the center more. looks good overall.

    Boxes

    Plotted Perspective: no issues here

    Rough Perspective: no issues here

Rotated Boxes: looks good to me, great job.

Organic Perspective: overall looks good, but boxes should be a bit smaller when they are further in space, but it's not a big deal. Looks like you know what are u doing. Good job.

    Next Steps:

    Hi,

    Lines:

Superimposed Lines - Some visible fraying on both ends, keep in mind to avoid it. Also try to stop your pen at the beginning of the new line, in order to be sure you're starting from the same point every time.

Ghosted Lines - There are some visible arcs. Keep in mind to work with your shoulder. Consider practicing it more. Also, try not to do correction lines. Accept your mistakes :D

Ghosted Planes - Same issues there, you need more practice on the stability of your lines, and work with your shoulder instead of the wrist.

    Ellipses:

Table of Ellipses - Exercise done correctly. Your circles are not perfectly aligned, but it will come with practice :D Consider this exercise as a warm-up.

Ellipses in Planes - same here. looks good, keep practicing it.

Funnels - circles are expanding. That's the mistake. They should expand as they move away from the center. Also, you should try to change the size of the funnels. If I were you I would read the whole page again https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/funnels and redo the exercise cose u've missed the whole point of it.

    Boxes

Plotted Perspective: Exercise done correctly. there are Some mistakes with correcting lines, but no big deal.

Rough Perspective: Your lines should be drawn freehand with the ghosting method. Also, try not to overdraw depth lines, because it's hard for you (and me) to see mistakes. Additional points for trying different positions of horizontal lines and placement of vanishing points.

Rotated Boxes: Looks good at first glance, your boxes are trying to mimic rotation. They are also not symmetric, reread the lesson.

Organic Perspective: overall looks good, boxes could be smaller when they are further in space, but Looks good to me.

    Next Steps:

Redo the lessons with Funnels and Rotated Boxes.

optionally you can practice your circles more.

When finished, reply to this critique with your revisions.

    Hi,

    Lines:

Superimposed Lines - (Ain't your scans rotated upside down?) looks good to me. Some visible fraying on both ends, keep in mind to avoid it.

Ghosted Lines - there are some visible wobbling lines. Consider practicing it more (eg. as a warm-up).

Ghosted Planes - Same issues there, you need more practice on the stability of your lines.

    Ellipses:

Table of Ellipses - looking good to me. Some of them don't fit in the frames, but it's acceptable. Consider doing it as warm-ups.

Ellipses in Planes - same here. looks good, keep practicing it.

Funnels - Exercise done correctly. Your circles wobbling but looks good overall.

    Boxes

    Plotted Perspective: no issues here

Rough Perspective: Your lines are done with your wrist. Try to draw your lines with your shoulder.

Rotated Boxes: Looks good, your boxes are rotating, not symmetrically, but looks like you understood the point of the exercise. Check these 3 sections again, they are very helpful:

Organic Perspective: overall looks good, boxes could be smaller when they are further in space, but I can call it good enough :D

    Hi,

    Lines:

Superimposed Lines - looks good to me. Keep in mind to avoid making fraying on both ends.

Ghosted Lines - looks good imo. For a couple of lines when you are drawing longer ones , you're doing arcs, not often but it's visible :D Practice with your shoulder more. BTW good precision and speed.

Ghosted Planes - no noticeable mistakes, a little wobbling.

    Ellipses:

Table of Ellipses - looking good to me. Consider doing it as warm-ups.

Ellipses in Planes - same here. looks good, keep practicing it.

Funnels - Some circles are expanding and some do not. They should expand as they move away from the center. Also you should try to change size of the funnels.

    Boxes

    Plotted Perspective: no issues here

    Rough Perspective: no issues here

Rotated Boxes: Your boxes are not rotating ( at least not enough), https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/21/rotation there is a great animation that could help with your problem. Also consider redrawing it for practice :D

Organic Perspective: overall looks good, but boxes should be smaller when they are further in space and bigger when closer ( helps in building the impression of space). Also check this 3 sections ( very helpful during next challenge imo )

i guess you're doing it, but what helped me with wobbling and speed was 15 min warm-ups. Just pick one random exercise L1 and keep practicing. And good luck with 250 boxes, you will master your cubes there :D

    Hello,

    Lines:

Superimposed Lines - looks good overall.

Ghosted Lines - looks good imo, try to draw a bit faster to avoid wobbling.

Ghosted Planes - try to avoid redrawing same lines.

    Ellipses:

Table of Ellipses - looks good overall. No issues here.

Ellipses in Planes - same here.

    Funnels - same here.

    Boxes

Rotated Boxes: no issues here ( nice )

The Science of Deciding What You Should Draw

The Science of Deciding What You Should Draw

Right from when students hit the 50% rule early on in Lesson 0, they ask the same question - "What am I supposed to draw?"

It's not magic. We're made to think that when someone just whips off interesting things to draw, that they're gifted in a way that we are not. The problem isn't that we don't have ideas - it's that the ideas we have are so vague, they feel like nothing at all. In this course, we're going to look at how we can explore, pursue, and develop those fuzzy notions into something more concrete.
