Hello. Thank you for your critique. While I will be taking your critiques into consideration, I will like to add that I did not attempt to do any of these exercises too quickly in any way. This lesson took me a month to do and I wholeheartedly made sure that I understood the instructions given and that I took my time. However, if you feel like I rushed this lesson, I understand; but I respectfully disagree that my attempt was the result of working too quickly. Thank you for understanding.

Thank you so much for the critique! When doing exercises, how do I know which one to do for the day?

    Ah! I apologize! Here's a working link! https://imgur.com/a/qQ8wmAb

But I understand now what you mean by goldilocks speed! Thank you!

Ah alright! Would you mind explaining to me what “Goldilocks speed” exactly is?

Here’s the updated images by the way! I decided to redo the frayed lines exercise for the fun of it!

Thank you so much for your critique! For the frayed lines, I believe I did use a rule to draw the first line. Also, how often should I be doing these warm ups, and how do I know which ones to do?

Unfortunately, this imgur link is broken so I am unable to see it. :(

Once I finish redoing these 2 exercises, should I show them to you?

Thank you again for your help! It is much appreciated! ^^

    Lines:

    • Superimposed lines: Nice job with your lines! There is very little wobbling with your smaller lines! Though the larger lines at the bottom have quite a large arch, they still look confident. Continue to try to make your lines straighter!

    • Ghosted lines: Good job with ths one!

    • Ghosted planes: Great job with your eclipses inside of the planes! Most of them reach all sides of the box! However, the lines of the boxes are quite wobbly.

    Ellipses:

    • Table of ellipses: Great job with these eclipses!

    • Funnels: Good job with these! Some of the eclipses look a little wonky especially towards the middle of the funnel but thats ok, keep trying!

    Boxes:

    • Plotted perspective: Beautiful job with this! The lines look amazing!

    • Rough perspective: Nice job with this! Though there are mistakes such as a couple of misshapen cubes, most cubes look great!

    • Rotated boxes: Amazing job on this one! One minor thing I noticed is that the boxes at the very top and bottom looks more like a trapezoid than a square. However, you still did beautifully on this!

The Art of Brom

The Art of Brom

Here we're getting into the subjective - Gerald Brom is one of my favourite artists (and a pretty fantastic novelist!). That said, if I recommended art books just for the beautiful images contained therein, my list of recommendations would be miles long.

The reason this book is close to my heart is because of its introduction, where Brom goes explains in detail just how he went from being an army brat to one of the most highly respected dark fantasy artists in the world today. I believe that one's work is flavoured by their life's experiences, and discovering the roots from which other artists hail can help give one perspective on their own beginnings, and perhaps their eventual destination as well.
