    Anytime.

P.S. If you have a moment, I'd appreciate a review of my 250 challenge as well. Thanks!

    Yo NICOLASLASLAS

Let's jump into some notes/thoughts below:

Your boxes are great, lots of rotation, size, and perspective happening here. I wish you did more hatch lines, but oh well, it's optional.

The extended lines seem to converge and that's what we're looking for, so good job on that as well. Lots of true confident lines. The ghosting method must've helped you a lot, cause it looks excellent. :)

Overall you did an amazing job. Not many notes I can think of except when there are optional options to the homework...just do those too. You learn more from doing the extra work, and although tedious, you'll be happier on the other side.

Again, great great work and enjoy lesson 2.

    Cheers,

    OSTR1CH

Dude you did 250 boxes and crushed it. Go onto the next steps and enjoy lesson 2.

    Hey JPEREZ01

Let's jump into some notes/thoughts below:

    • Your boxes and the hatching lines are great. You have some repetitive lines in the boxes, but most seem to be drawn with confidence.

    • The extended lines seem to be missing from a good amount of your pages, I can't give notes on your converging lines for those since I can't tell where they're going, I would advise going back and maybe go over them so you can review for yourself.

    • Adding to the extending lines, they are all kinda bunch and one is not going in the right direction, for future reference, start in the center of your "Y" from where you started your box and drawn them out from the center point.

    • Using the marker for the back of the pages, although you're saving paper (woo!), it is hard to see the boxes individually.

Overall there is improvement, but I think you might need to do about 20 - 30 more boxes and really focus on the task and make sure you are drawing with confidence and really extending those lines outwards in the right direction to see your converging lines. This is just a side note, you don't have to do it of course, but it would be beneficial to you.

    Next Steps:

After you do an extra 20-30 boxes, move onto Lesson 2. Great work, and keep it up.

    Hi AINSLEYKCHO

Excellent boxes you've drawn! Couple notes below for you:

    • Good line work. Your boxes feel very in unison, without the hatching it hards to tell the front face, but it doesn't take too much away from the exercise in general.

    • Your extended lines are nice and show your convergence seemingly on par.

    • Great box rotation, size, and perspective. Lots of variety overall.

    • Lots of your boxes seem to be 1x1, maybe you could try and do more rectangular boxes as a challenge too? See if you can do maybe 20-30 in a different style.

I don't have much else to say, you understood and assignment and executed it very well.

    Cheers,

    OSTR1CH

Move onto lesson 2 and happy drawing.

    Hi Maria,

I felt the same way about doing mine! Being in lockdown and drawing box over box it feels so repetitive. Let's just into the review.

    • First off, you should be more proud of just two boxes. Most of these are excellent. You have great smooth strong confident lines and your hatching is on point.

    • Lots of line converges look nice too, you clearly marked which were working and which didn't, so you know this part already. Either way, it's great that you notice it and realize a mistake. It makes you that much better in the long run.

    • The box rotations and multitude of shape shows you were challenging yourself and really going all out with the assignment.

    • The extended lines are true and you use a variety of different colors, no real notes on this part.

    • One thing I wish you did was number each box so we could see the progress on the page, but that's alright.

    Next Steps:

You are totally ready to move onto the next lesson. Again be proud of yourself and don't get hung up on the 250 boxes. You should be proud of all of them. This task is mind numbing, but you stuck through and finished, and that counts for something.

Enjoy lesson 2 and keep rockin' it. Tip: If lock down gets to you when doing the assignments, take a break and walk away. Come back when you are in a better head space.

    Cheers,

    OSTR1CH

    Hi ANDOPY01

First off, great work and congrats on completing the 250 box assignment. I'm just gonna jump in below to some pros/cons you've done, take it all with a grain of salt (I'm no professional).

    • These mini arrows you drew for you boxes are so great, it really helps understand direction and only adds to the hatching you've done.

    • Your lines are drawn with confidence, but your extended lines are a bit faded and hard to make out. using other colors would've been a bit more helpful, but that's okay.

    • You really challenge yourself with the constant box rotation and sizing.

    • Lots of small boxes on the pages so it's hard to tell how well the converging lines are, but most seem to be parallel or converging.

    • Note for next time would be give your boxes more room for extended lines/drawing space as a whole.

    Next Steps:

You clearly understood the task and executed it without issue. Feel free to move onto the next lessons and keep practicing and doing your thing.

    Cheers,

    OSTR1CH

    Hey TempoRogue

So far the boxes are really coming together, but I'm only seeing about the first 50, are you still working on this assignment? If so I'll give notes for this so far, and I'll try and follow up when you are complete complete.

    • Your lines are drawn with confidence, and you can see just how well thought out the ghosting was.

    • The extended lines part seems to be an issue, as they don't extend in all directions, some advice for future boxes would be look at the original "Y" you made and extend the lines from the central point of the "Y" so they fan out in all directions.

    • good amount of box rotation, and perspective.

    • some converging issues, but for the most part you are getting close to parallel. Keep an eye on that as you continue the lesson.

As noted above, I cannot mark the challenge as complete since all boxes aren't drawn yet, but if you keep up the progress, you will no doubt have made some vast improvements by the end of it all. Keep going and best of luck!

    Cheers,

    OSTR1CH

    Hi there,

Great work with box drawings, you can really see the progress from the beginning all the way through to til the end.

Couple things that came to my attention:

    • Some extended lines went the wrong way, but you noticed them and "x"-ed them out. Not a big deal at all, just wanted to mention it.

    • You boxes seem to converge nicely, you really notice the change in the boxes after the first 100, you really got into a great rhythm of drawing. Killer job.

    • Noticed some repeat lines, but this doesn't take away from the end goal. Just be confident in your first line, and if it is a mistake, just take it as a learning point and don't get hung up on one line.

    • You stopped hatching lines, not an issue since it's optional, but it makes looking at the box a little difficult.

    Next Steps:

Overall, like previous stated, you did a great job. I think you are ready to move on to the next lesson stuff. Great work again and keep it up.

Faber Castell PITT Artist Pens

Faber Castell PITT Artist Pens

Like the Staedtlers, these also come in a set of multiple weights - the ones we use are F. One useful thing in these sets however (if you can't find the pens individually) is that some of the sets come with a brush pen (the B size). These can be helpful in filling out big black areas.

Still, I'd recommend buying these in person if you can, at a proper art supply store. They'll generally let you buy them individually, and also test them out beforehand to weed out any duds.
