bro BRO thank you so much, I was giving up on this TBH from the lack of rresponse.

Don't worry I'm not Irrationally critical of my work, I agree, my boxes look confident as fuck, my straight lines look like they were made with a fucking ruler, The reason I said my boxes were worse is that I noticed that my back lines got a lot less accurate.

About presentation, I actually have a scanner at home, I just didn't want to use it because I did 40something pages and it would take a long fucking time. But, I'll take your advice, I'll scan the next ones.

thanks a lot bro, love ya, keep it up.

    Overall a pretty nice job.

    Lines:

Very nice lines, you have some wobbliness issues at the start but you correct those by the end.

    Elipses:

Overall very smooth and even, you do have some unevenness issues in a few elipses. Since most of your elipses are nice and even I would guess this is because you stopped ghosting those. Whatever the reason, keep it in mind.

    Boxes:

You did a nice job, I'm glad to see you kept your boxes parallel to the horizon.

On your rotated boxes you missed the cornermost boxes (You should have 2 boxes on each direction starting from the center. Diagonal, horizontal and vertical. You're missing the 2nd diagonal box on all directions). But you do seem to have an overall nice grasp on perspective, albeit you still need to learn more about dimension.

About your approach to doing the organic perspective, you should follow This method for that and for the 250 box challenge you'll have to do afterwards.

Keep it up, proud of ya!

    Very nice job overall!

    Lines:

You did some very nice even lines overall, a few of them here and there have a bit of an arc, but overall pretty good.

    Elipses:

Your elipses are a bit wobbly, and on the elipses table you did too much of the same type of elipses. You sometimes seem to deform your elipses in favor of fitting them on their container. Keep it in mind when you use these exercises as a warmup.

    Boxes:

Very nice overall, I do notice a few times you redrew some incorrectly at first. Try to avoid that in the future, you should let them on the page so you can learn from them. Aside from that, there's slight perspective issues but you'll get your chance to get better at those.

Keep it up, proud of ya.

Congratulations on finishing lesson 1! Overall you did a nice job.

    Lines:

Overall your lines are very confident and even, you also paid good attention to your pen placing.

    Elipses:

Some of your elipses are wobbly I'm guessing as a result of you wanting to make them fit their container, just remember to prioritize confidence over accuracy.

    Boxes:

I appreciate that you did not redraw any lines in any part of the lesson, you should keep doing things this way in the future. Aside from that, you do have some perspective issues, but that's alright at this point.

    Good job overall.

    Proceed to 250 box challenge.

Hey, so I've got a question, did you draw some of these with pencils? I'm not sure if it's just a photo issue.

Aside from that, this is some a really solid nice job!

    Lines:

Really nice, some wobbliness on the beginning but at the end your lines look very confident.

    Elipses:

Again, really nice, they fit their containers and are very confident. Your some of your funnels are a bit assymetrical but aside from that they're nice.

    Boxes:

You have some perspective issues, but I believe you're expected to get better at those in the future (specifficaly on the 250 box challenge). Aside from that, pretty good.

    Congratulations on finishing lesson 1!

    Lines:

I like a lot your ghosted lines and planes, they are very confident and have little to no arcing. Your superimposed lines look wobblier overall, but that's not an issue I see you repeating much after this, what you do seem to be repeating is not takin the time to carefully position your pen over the starting dot (as evidenced by the fraying on the starting side).

    Elipses:

Your elipses are noticeably wobblier. I'm guessing you did this because you were trying to make them fit their container. In the future try to aim for fluidity over accuracy, accuracy will come with time

    Boxes:

You have some perspective issues, such as in your rotating boxes exercise some boxes are not actually rotating, but aside from that there's just one big issue I see. Some of your boxes are either chicken scratched or redrawn to cover up mistakes. Regardless, you should avoid doing both, chicken scratching would be a bigger issue since that would mean you're not applying what you learnt in the Lines sublesson to these exercises. Redrawing is also an issue, but not as major. When you try to redraw over your mistakes you end up drawing more attention towards them as well as not allowing yourself to review what mistakes you made. As you move on to the 250 box challenge avoid doing that as much as you can, reviewing past mistakes is a big part of that challenge.

Aside from that, I just wanted to tell you a few words on the subject of failure. After reading more of the material from Uncomfortable I've come to understand just how important failure is. Success may feel good, but you never learn anything from it. If you want to get good, the fastest way is making a lot of mistakes and learning from them, which I think is what Unconfortable is going for with the 50/50 rule (Which I hope you've been following) and the exercises where you're expected to fail. Don't get discouraged, just keep going and appreciate your failures.

You completed this revision very quickly! Too quickly! I'd say, but we'll get to that.

First of all, I'm glad you listened to my feedback, I can see a noticeable impovement in your line quality. You also varied the shape and rotation of the boxes a lot more, one thing I forgot to tell you in the first review is that you're supposed to only show the visible lines of the organic perspective boxes (as in, not show the xray vision ones). Now, I say that I think you did these too quickly because these do seem rushed. Drawabox is all about careful planning, active thinking and building muscle memory. It's important that you take your time with these exercises, do them to the best of your ability. This is only to maximize your learning. Nobody is expecting you to be quick quite the opposite actually. Uncomfortable expects these exercises to be tough for you.

With that in mind, you can continue to the 250 box challenge. Please, no need to rush.

Overall I'd say this is a pretty nice job!

    Lines:

Your lines are pretty good, they are very confident and straight. You do have some slight arching in your ghosted lines, but that's about it.

    Elipses:

Also pretty good. These are very confident, fluid elipses. The one issue I have is on your elipses on planes exercise. Some of your elipses look a bit deformed as a result of you trying to fit them into the planes. Remember to always sacrifice accuracy in exchange for fluidity.

    Boxes:

Pretty nice overall. I do notice the wobbliness on your lines getting stronger on the boxes section. It gets better as you continue, but remember to use the things you learnt on the first exercises and apply them here.

One thing I would critique about your boxes is that a lot of times you redraw lines you got wrong. This not only draws more attention to your mistakes, but is also not desirable. You want to commit to your lines after you've planned where you're gonna draw them. You also want to keep your mistakes so you can learn from them later.

    Good job, Keep it up!

Color and Light by James Gurney

Color and Light by James Gurney

Some of you may remember James Gurney's breathtaking work in the Dinotopia series. This is easily my favourite book on the topic of colour and light, and comes highly recommended by any artist worth their salt. While it speaks from the perspective of a traditional painter, the information in this book is invaluable for work in any medium.
