Thanks! I'm glad you think the lines are straight, I was really struggling with that! hah

    To answer your questions:

    1. No, not at all, rulers aren't allowed for the challenge for the creation of boxes! Everything is freehand, mostly ghosting, though I admit I would forget myself sometimes and that's when lines are really wobbly.

    2. Nope! This is my third try to do Drawabox course in a last few years and the second time I reached the 250 box challenge. At the time I tried doing the lessons and it didn't work well for me at all! I recommend definitely finishing this challenge first! Your understanding of how elements work in 3D space will increase greatly and lesson 2 builds up on that a lot! So yeah, 250 box challenge on it's own. Then lesson 2 :)

    3. Oof, yeah that definitely is a big one, cause quite a few things will fall under this. I had some doubts if I'm doing it correctly quite a few times along the way, most notably around boxes 100-150, I still struggle with finding that perfect spot for the third (hidden) point of the box, finding motivation to continue was a bit of a challenge at one point as well, but I kept at it and I'm really glad! I definitely feel that I improved and from 200 onward drawing the boxes wasn't even a chore anymore, cause I started to really enjoy it! One more thing was that I was getting impatient as well to finish the challenge and that's when I would get sloppy.

I wanted to do 4 pages of 6 boxes in a day for the whole challenge; managed that maybe for 3 days and then it became exhausting. My advice is not to rush it and just make sure you do 1-2 pages a day and you'll feel better about it and see improvements more imo.

That got long sorry hah! Thanks again :)

Right okay! Will start on it then.

yeah, I've been doing that since the start as well, like atleast ten minutes each day.

Oh that's cool, some of your first pages probably should be redone since they're supposed to be 6 on each page no? But there's nice progress there!

So... how do I go about passing the lesson? I'm new to this site.

That's fair enough, thank you anyways :)

Do you think I should be able to move to the 250 boxes challenge myself?

Hi, thanks for taking the time to critique the lesson!

I'm really struggling with the organic perspective exercise tbh.

The Art of Blizzard Entertainment

While I have a massive library of non-instructional art books I've collected over the years, there's only a handful that are actually important to me. This is one of them - so much so that I jammed my copy into my overstuffed backpack when flying back from my parents' house just so I could have it at my apartment. My back's been sore for a week.

The reason I hold this book in such high esteem is because of how it puts the relatively new field of game art into perspective, showing how concept art really just started off as crude sketches intended to communicate ideas to storytellers, designers and 3D modelers. How all of this focus on beautiful illustrations is really secondary to the core of a concept artist's job. A real eye-opener.
