First off I really want to appreciate the work you put in. There's a lot of work that I've seen that have lots of space left in the paper, but in your case the page has been filled up to the brim. Well done! Remember to pace yourself though because it does get a lot harder from here so be careful not to burn yourself out.

I would really work on making more confident ellipses as a lot of them are very shaky. You need to remember to ghost before making ellipses if you haven't done so already. In your table of ellipses some of panels had varying degrees when they really should've had the same degree. Your funnels exercise had me on the ropes though because it looked like it was of varying degree but it was really subtle so I couldnt tell. I think it should be good enough to move on though.

As with the boxes, there are a few of them that isn't quite consistent but it's very common that people wont get the 3 point perspective right away. My advice for these boxes goes like this. If you take a box like the top right or the top left in the rotated boxes exercise, the converging points would be at the left, right and up. There would be no converging point down. If you take a box like the bottom right or the bottom left in the rotated boxes exercise, the converging points would be at the left, right and down. There would be no converging point up. Keeping this in mind this should fix the inconsistency in your boxes. To reiterate, If you tilt your box down in 3 point perspective theres a converging point down and vice versa.

Below are some tips on making 3pp boxes.

Other than that I think you've done well. I would keep practicing on the ellipses by incorporating all the exercising learned in lesson 1 and use it as warmups from now on. Now to tidy up your boxes you have the 250 box challenge to help you with that as it is your next step after lesson 1. This lesson is pretty much done.

Next Steps:

As mentioned above your next step is the 250 box challenge. Do your best!

Overall the lesson looks pretty good. But your rotated boxes really needs some work. I do reccomend going to the 250 box challenge but try to push yourself and start drawing boxes from different perspectives. You can even use the y-method for creating boxes. My main advice is to jump out your comfort zone.

Regarding your ellipses remember to use your shoulders and don't hesitate. If you feel like your going to miss your target its better to miss it and make a decent ellipse because the whole point is to make confidence in your lines. Other than that make sure you keep working on the ghosting method and you'll be good.

Thanks for the advice! I had the same self-critique of my boxes and ellipses as well, but yeah I'll move on to the challenge and practice boxes and drawing with my shoulder on the side. thanks again!

Color and Light by James Gurney

Some of you may remember James Gurney's breathtaking work in the Dinotopia series. This is easily my favourite book on the topic of colour and light, and comes highly recommended by any artist worth their salt. While it speaks from the perspective of a traditional painter, the information in this book is invaluable for work in any medium.
