Hello!
Congrats on finishing Lesson 1! I’ll be reviewing your submission and hopefully find my feedback helpful.
Superimposed Lines
-
Some of your lines are smooth and only has one frayed end. Good job.
-
Your longer lines on both pages and the smaller ones on the 1st page are wobbling a bit, so always remember to draw from your shoulder and prioritize executing those lines with confidence.
-
You can add this to your warmups to improve.
Ghosted Lines
-
Your ghosted lines are straight and smooth. Good job.
-
A few lines slightly wobble at the end dot, but it will get better as you practice. Just always remember to prioritize drawing with confidence first.
-
You can add this to your warmups to improve.
Ghosted Planes
-
Most of your lines are straight and smooth. Good job.
-
Some lines still wobble/curve a bit, but like I said it will get better as you practice these.
-
You can add this to your warmups to improve accuracy.
Tables of Ellipse
-
You kept your ellipses snuggly next to each other and vary them in size, degree, and orientation, that’s good, but your ellipses are wobbly.
-
The important thing that you should prioritize first is drawing with confidence. You should always draw from your shoulder, use the ghosting method, and strive to draw smooth ellipses. Don’t worry too much about accuracy.

Here’s a video from Uncomfortable’s YT about the things you need to remember for this exercise: https://youtu.be/gyRHkTPqfrQ
Ellipses in Planes
-
Your ellipses are wobbly here as well. I see that you’re trying to make your ellipses touch the borders to make it accurate. As I said earlier, you should try your best to execute smooth ellipses from your shoulder, use the ghosting method, and not worry too much about accuracy.
-
If your ellipse is smooth and executed with confidence, even though it doesn't touch all 4 borders of the plane , It would look better than a wobbly ellipse touching all borders in a plane. Here’s an image to show you what I mean: https://imgur.com/a/ULefQJC
Funnels
-
Most of your ellipses are nicely aligned to the minor axis and cut the ellipses in 2 symmetrical halves. Good job.
-
A few mistakes I’d like to point out are a few ellipses in some funnels are misaligned to the minor axis like in this image: https://imgur.com/a/fylwBYA, and again your ellipses are wobbly here as well.
-
You can add this to your warmups to get used to aligning your ellipses to the minor axis since this exercise will be important for lesson 2.
Plotted Perspective
- Your boxes have no distortions and it looked like you understand the concept of vanishing points and horizon lines. Good job.
Rough Perspective
-
You used one point perspective and your depth lines (those that are meant to converge towards the vanishing point) were converging with the horizon line. Good job.
-
Your lines are wobbling a bit, so be patient with the ghosting method and always draw from your shoulder.
Rotated Boxes
- Most of your boxes’ corners are close to one another and even though some boxes just slightly rotated, you still did a good job since most of your boxes actually rotated.
Organic Perspective
- Your boxes are freely rotated in space and gets smaller the further away it gets. Well done.
Some Reminders:
-
Keep in mind that confidence takes precedence over accuracy.
-
Be patient with the exercises. Don't rush and take your time for as long as you need if you think it will help you understand the lessons.
-
Don’t correct incorrect lines. If you draw an incorrect line, don't draw another line on top of it; instead, keep the line and move on.
-
Remember the 50% rule. Draw something for yourself as well. This course will take a long time to finish, and you might lose motivation/burn out as a result.
Next Steps:
