Hello I'll be handling the critique for your lesson 1 homework
Lines
-Starting with the superimposed lines exercise you are doing a great job always starting at a clearly defined point and keeping all of the wavering on one side, your lines do not have a lot of fraying but they wobble slightly, keep in mind that you always want to prioritize confidence over accuracy when making your marks.
-Moving on to the ghosted lines, here I can see that you were more worried about hitting the endpoints, this made your lines look wobblier than the ones in the previous exercise You want your lines to flow smoothly and follow a consistent trajectory even if they are going to miss the ending dot. Since you are beginning to practice these exercises, it is a good idea to draw relatively fast to avoid any chance of wobbling.
-The ghosted planes show some of the problems already mentioned but overall your linework is looking much better here.
Ellipses
-Starting with the tables of ellipses, these are looking very tidy instead of rushed, and I can see that you have kept the angle, degree size and spacing of each ellipse in mind, it is good to see that your ellipses fit in snugly within the rectangles while being evenly shaped, so keep up the great work.
-Your ellipses in planes are coming along nicely, and you weren’t too worried with having each ellipse touch the four sides of the plane which helped your ellipses look more confident. That said, you should always aim to draw symmetrical ellipses. I can notice some instances where they have unequally sized ends.
-On the funnels your ellipses look stiffer than the ones in the previous exercise, so try to loosen up and draw them a bit faster so they end up fully confident. You did a great job when it comes to the alignment and spacing
Boxes
-Starting with the rough perspective, try to keep the linework confident, I can see that some of your lines look a little hesitant. Aside from this issue you are doing a great job aligning the sides of the boxes to the horizon line and your estimations to the vanishing point are good and will get better with practice.
-Your rotated boxes are turning out well as you have kept the gaps between boxes narrow and consistent. Just keep working on the rotation, I can see that the front faces of the boxes are rotating but the faces at the back are not, so try to correct this in future attempts.
-Finishing with the organic perspective, I suggest you try to add lineweight to the parts where boxes overlap, the perspective on the boxes does have issues, but that's not a problem as you'll work on it through the box challenge.
Next Steps:
Before you move on to the box challenge please do the following
-1 page of ghosted lines.
