250 Box Challenge

Finally done with the 250 Box Challenge! :,) Any critiques would be greatly appreciated!!
Hello!
I will try my best to correct your 250 box challenge.
Lines:
I see you have applied line weight and hatching.
Both well drawn and applied in place.
I like that neither looks drawn in rush.
Box construction:
It's quite helpful that you drew your boxes in various orientations, so you won't be surprised when you're asked to draw them in various positions in subsequent lessons.
You will also notice that in several boxes your lines converge in pairs.
As in this image:
This is a mistake to avoid.
It usually helps to think of the relationship of each line as a set to its vanishing point.
Shown here: https://imgur.com/8PqQLE0
As you will see, the inner pair of lines will be somewhat similar in orientation, while the outer pair will vary more according to the position of the vanishing point.
If the vanishing point is far away, the lines will become more parallel; and if close, the lines will converge faster because of their foreshortening.
More information about this here:
https://drawabox.com/lesson/250boxes/1/foreshortening
(As in the base axis in green in box 246: https://i.imgur.com/ugyxbTU.jpg)
Usually this happens when the base axis is somewhat tilted and therefore confuses the position of the correct vanishing point.
There is no specific solution for this, but rotating your sheet may help you to perceive the real position of the point.
Conclusion:
These are all the reviews I can give you.
I'll leave you some homework, so you can practice boxes with shallow foreshortening, think a bit more about the relationship of lines to their vanishing point and so on.
Best of luck in your next steps!
Next Steps:
Try to correct the things mentioned in the critique.
Hi, thank you so much for your critique!
I've done the additional 15 boxes & tried to keep your points in mind: https://imgur.com/a/SFUn0OK
I'm not very happy with them but I didn't want to start grinding excessively.
Ok! There is certainly a big improvement in foreshortening, and the boxes look less distorted.
Regarding the convergence in pairs, there is still a bit but it seems to be decreasing.
Follow to the next lesson, and try to keep improving this during warmups! ^^
/- Oh yes, and grinding is never okay in this course.
Even if the boxes don't look right, the important thing is that you tried to improve according to the instructions.
We don't ask for anything else!
Thank you so much! I'll definitely try to work on covergence moving forward. Thank you for taking the time to help!
When it comes to technical drawing, there's no one better than Scott Robertson. I regularly use this book as a reference when eyeballing my perspective just won't cut it anymore. Need to figure out exactly how to rotate an object in 3D space? How to project a shape in perspective? Look no further.
