Good work. Although I'd like to make sure that you are aware that, in the plotted perspective exercise, only one set of parallel lines for each given box is supposed to be angled towards the vanishing point and the two others are either horizontal or vertical. Maybe you are aware of that but a lot of your lines in that exercise seem skewed. If there's no confusion about that then you should make your lines a little by training to use your shoulder instead of your wrist. But the organic perspective exercise seems okay in contrast so you probably rectified that by yourself. Other than that, you did a fine job and should move on to the 250 box challenge. Good luck!

    250 box challenge.

Remember to not do them all in one go so you don't burn yourself out. It's not unusual for the challenge to last more than a month so take your time.

You're welcome, and good luck with the challenge.

Good job. Honestly nothing seems out of order. Maybe one little note for the organic perspective exercise: Remember that all sets of parallel lines in 3D actually converge towards a vanishing point in 2D. I'm saying this because some of your boxes in the organic perspective exercise seem to have parallel lines when they should be converging. You'll have plenty of opportunitites to get it right in the 250 box challenge though. So move on to that and good luck!

This is good in general. However in the rough perspective exercise, I see that you didn't get that you were supposed to extend your lines towards the horizon line and not "correct" them as you did. It was meant to show you that even though your lines don't go exactly towards the vanishing point, it still looks "good enough" to the point where it doesn't matter. You just have to estimate to make it close enough, which you will need for the upcoming 250 box challenge.

You should move on to it with that in mind. Good luck!

This is good, I have nothing to say, except maybe that you should have put the exercises in chronological order. But that only makes it slightly easier to review and it's not a problem with the actual work, which again, is solid. You can move on to the 250 box challenge. Good luck!

    Next Steps:

Do the 250 box challenge. Be sure to read the page/watch the video about it first though.

Overall good job, but i think the rotated boxes exercise could have used more structure. It looks as if you didn't use the adjacent boxes to estimate the angles of the edges and relied purely on your intuition for each individual box.

I would like you to redo, but this time, make it simple, start with all the front-facing planes of all boxes first then finish the rest.

Here's a link that will clarify the approach: https://www.reddit.com/r/ArtFundamentals/comments/cqvxap/i_created_an_extra_rotated_boxes_guide_for_people/

Otherwise, I would have recommended you try to vary your boxes in the organic perspective exercise a little more, not in terms of size, but dimensions and angles, but it's not a problem since you'll get plenty of opportunity to do that in the 250 boxes challenge.

For, just do the rotated boxes with the new approach and post it here, then you're good to go!

    Next Steps:

Redo the rotated boxes exercise with the new approach.

When finished, reply to this critique with your revisions.

Hopefully I'll get done with this challenge at some point. 250 boxes sounds like a lot.

Anyways, thanks again for the evaluation.

    Thanks for the evaluation.

Here is the rough perspective exercise with the additional lines.

While I have a massive library of non-instructional art books I've collected over the years, there's only a handful that are actually important to me. This is one of them - so much so that I jammed my copy into my overstuffed backpack when flying back from my parents' house just so I could have it at my apartment. My back's been sore for a week.

The reason I hold this book in such high esteem is because of how it puts the relatively new field of game art into perspective, showing how concept art really just started off as crude sketches intended to communicate ideas to storytellers, designers and 3D modelers. How all of this focus on beautiful illustrations is really secondary to the core of a concept artist's job. A real eye-opener.
