Back at it!
Back at it!
Hi, thank you for the detailed feedback--all very specific and actionable. I also appreciate the assigned revisions. Having to immediately apply the critiques helped me digest and internalize the information.
I think I finally understand the difference between sausage forms and stretched ellipses, although sometimes an ellipse still slips out when I'm aiming for a sausage (I've taken to drilling both in my warmups).
Additional masses are tough! I noticed, even in the revisions set, that I tend to paste them onto the front (viewer-facing) side of my animals rather than wrapping them over the spine to the back side. Do you think it would be worthwhile to try to draw all the way through the additional mass forms (ie, draw where they sit on the back side) in maybe the organic intersections exercise?
Link to revisions at the top. Looking forward to the next round of feedback!
Like the Staedtlers, these also come in a set of multiple weights - the ones we use are F. One useful thing in these sets however (if you can't find the pens individually) is that some of the sets come with a brush pen (the B size). These can be helpful in filling out big black areas.
Still, I'd recommend buying these in person if you can, at a proper art supply store. They'll generally let you buy them individually, and also test them out beforehand to weed out any duds.
