How were my leaves, arrows and petals similar? Could you elaborate a bit more on that? I did hatch crossing because last time I did the black shadows, I received criticism for it.

I looked at the videos but I am still confused. What was I doing wrong with the my boxes? They looked the like the teacher's boxes to me. (The only thing that looked different was that he did the cross hatching shadowing and I did the paint in shadows).

Hello, I will be giving you your feedback on your box challenge. I can tell that you were confident in your lines because the boxes had smooth and quick lines.

Suggestions: 1) When giving your boxes shadows, don't do the criss cross lines. It is visually confusing to the viewers. To give it shadows, it would be best to darken (or color in) a side of a box. 2) the box on the fourth page looks unfinished. It seemed that you forgot to finish the box. 2) the box on the first page looks a bit messy (the one that has a box on top of another). You seemed confused on how your box should look like.

Overall, your boxes look well done and hope you continue onto the next lesson!

Like the Staedtlers, these also come in a set of multiple weights - the ones we use are F. One useful thing in these sets however (if you can't find the pens individually) is that some of the sets come with a brush pen (the B size). These can be helpful in filling out big black areas.

Still, I'd recommend buying these in person if you can, at a proper art supply store. They'll generally let you buy them individually, and also test them out beforehand to weed out any duds.
