I feel ya. I got busy and then couldn't quite bring myself to continue. Slowly getting back into it now.

    The Extra 40 boxes: https://imgur.com/a/SjQ7vMZ

Yup, this did feel a little different from my previous workflow. Definitely a lot harder being accurate when not focusing on being accurate despite trying to be accurate. I guess my instincts were right, there was something wrong with relying on that drawn vanishing point as a crutch.

Just for reference, none of the boxes I drew were meant to be parallel, sometimes it just happens when you miscalculate the distance to the VP, especially when the foreshortening isn't too drastic.

When adding line weight it the second line may sometimes be straighter than the original line (since the original might have an unintended curve in it).

I think once or twice I began the convergence wrong but then quickly realized it and crossed it out.

I have come to the point when drawing boxes is no longer torture. It is just box. Box. Box. Box.

Looking at your work, I think you are off to a wonderful start. Your lines are clear and obviously drawn with a lot of focus. All th exercises were completed very well. Your weakest point seems to be the rough perspective, but that is something that requires a lot of practice, which you shall get in the next challenge. As a minor observation, in the rotated boxes exercise the 4 flat boxes you drew in each side were meant to be part of the image, but that is a mistake I did as well - something you can take into account when doing future warm-ups.

    Next Steps:

Move on to Challenge #1 - 250 boxes.

Your Imgur URL seems to be broken.

Please fix it so others can take a look at your work.

    Edit:

Wow, just noticed that this was posted almost half a year ago.

I feel bad that no-one's replied until me.

With what little experience I have in this, I notice that almost all of your boxes have their 3 vanishing points quite far away from the box. This is, on its own, fine and dandy. Personally, I've suffered from the opposite problem. But I feel like you could've used some practice having the vanishing points really close (like a couple cm away from the end of the 'Y'). Sometimes it seems like your lines are almost running parallel to each other.

But besides that, I can see some really nice looking straight lines and a general improvement in terms of your lines moving towards those vanishing points.

So my advice would be to practice some of those close-ups, and only then move on. As it may help you identify a weakness or understand that you can do this too.

    Next Steps:

Practice a few attempts at having your vanishing points really close and then move on to lesson 2.

Whoops! I apologize for forgetting to upload the 3 pages. Somehow they slipped by me when double checking. I've uploaded them to the same link, they should be at the very end of the album.

And yes, I am guilty of using my wrist for drawing the shorter lines... I thought it was overkill to use the shoulder for the small ones.

Like the Staedtlers, these also come in a set of multiple weights - the ones we use are F. One useful thing in these sets however (if you can't find the pens individually) is that some of the sets come with a brush pen (the B size). These can be helpful in filling out big black areas.

Still, I'd recommend buying these in person if you can, at a proper art supply store. They'll generally let you buy them individually, and also test them out beforehand to weed out any duds.
