Thank you very much! I'll check out the new ghosting video-- you're right, I am still having trouble with confident execution of ellipses.

Whoops sorry, I see I was supposed to reply to the original critique, not down the comment chain. Here are the revisions:

Thank you again!
Hello Uncomfortable,
Here is the additional homework. Thank you very much!
Thank you very much! I think I better understand what I was doing wrong now. I'll get started on the extra pages.
Hi Uncomfortable,
Thank you for looking over the submission. I'll get to work on the additional homework.
I saw the instructions about varying foreshortening on cylinders, and, er... thought I was doing it. I'm evidently very poor at doing so. Do you happen to have an example of extreme foreshortening on a cylinder? Or another student's submission that did it well?
I did misunderstand how to check the cylinders in boxes, and will be sure to fully extend the minor axis and all contact points for the next 30.
Thank you very much! Especially the point concerning eyesockets-- I have been having trouble with imagining how the eyesocket fits into the skull, and I think your observation about how I'm not really breaking it down properly into a series of planes is spot on. I'll keep practicing animals on my own, and get started on the 250 cylinders!
That does help, thank you! I'll practice making the leg segments more consistent throughout, and will pay attention to drawing the joint contour lines.
Thank you so much for the feedback! You are right that I struggled with the 'sausage shape' on the insect legs, and I am having a hard time thinking of them as 3D shapes.
Can you elaborate on the issues with the peacock spider legs? Embarrisingly enough, I thought I was doing better on that drawing than the other ones, so I think I'm misunderstanding something.
Thank you very much for the detailed feedback! I was indeed having some trouble controlling my lines (especially my ellipses for stems and branches) with the smaller drawings, so I will try to work at a larger scale going forward.
Now onto... shudder INSECTS
Thank you so much for the detailed feedback! You're right, I haven't been practicing curved lines or ellipses nearly as much as my straight lines, and do not ghost as consistently with them. I will work on that, and be sure to ghost all lines, not just straight ones.
The explanation about contour lines for the organic forms exercise, and the marks I put down which read as contradictory visual information, is very helpful. I was having a lot of trouble wrapping my head over how they are supposed to work.
Thanks again, I'll get started on Lesson 3!
These are what I use when doing these exercises. They usually run somewhere in the middle of the price/quality range, and are often sold in sets of different line weights - remember that for the Drawabox lessons, we only really use the 0.5s, so try and find sets that sell only one size.
Alternatively, if at all possible, going to an art supply store and buying the pens in person is often better because they'll generally sell them individually and allow you to test them out before you buy (to weed out any duds).
