Good job for completing level 1

In the rough perspective it seems like you were correcting your strokes. If you mess one up just leave him like that. If your go over another time you only bring attention to the messed up area.

Also i would suggest that you keep drawing ellipses in your warm ups. They need a little bit more training

    Next Steps:

Go to 250 box hell :D

    Hello Justanotherselftaught

Super Imposed Lines, Ghosted Lines, Ghosted Planes, Tables of Ellipses, Ellipses in Planes, Funnels, Plotted Perspective

All of these Exercises are looking really clean. Good Job. The only thing I see, is that you go around many time for the ellipses, but this is no problem. But maybe you should try to only go around the ellipses 2 times.

    Rough Perspective

Remember to ghost every line you draw.

    Rotated Boxes

    very clean nice one.

    Organic Perspective

The general exercise is alright, boxes are a little bit wanky but you have 250 in front of you :D

But you should think a little bit about where to add lineweight. In most cases only add it the some Parts of the silhouette to clarify the hierarchy of forms

    Next Steps:

    To the boxes you go!

    if you didnt already started.

    Great work

I most cases you only redo some exercises.

For the next Exercises i would suggest that you read all instructions and watch all video demos, i have the feeling that you skipped allot of text.

Hello Spikediesel, at first i want to say, slow a little bit down do not rush anything.

I would highly recommend to read the full instrunctions and watch the videos. It is really helpful to take you time and read carefully.

    Super Imposed Lines

You really did a great job on this excercise, more percission will come after some time.

    Ghosted Lines

The most lines look good, but i noticed that the lines are getting more wobbly if they are vertical. So remember to always rotate your page, to find the best drawing angle. Here is also a recent video of Uncomfortable on the Levels of Ghosting. This Video really helpt me out to get more accurate with ghosting.

    Ghosted Planes

The most planes are okay, but you could fit a couple more on this page.

    Tables of Ellipses

Again slow down read carefully and don not rush the exercise. It is important to run 2 times over your ellipse. It will help you to get more accurate. Also remember to ghost your ellipses before you put your pen on the paper.

    Ellipses in Planes

Read carefully, it is okay that you did another ghosted Planes exercise to draw your ellipses in, but as mentioned you should use your old ghosted Planes. https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/ellipsesinplanes But all in all i think you circles are getting better, but always draw a second time over them.

    Funnels

They are nice. But also ghost every mark.

    Plotted Perspective

Well done, i can not see any mistakes.

    Rough Perspective

I think you understand the perspective in this exercise, but take a look at the example homework. https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/roughperspective dont extend your lines towards the vanishing point, extend them matching to the edge of your box. This will show you how far your guessed lines are away from the real vanishing point.

    Rotated Boxes

You got the Concept. But i notice that you run over some line again to clean them up. Only go over your lines to add lineweight. If you want to correct a line, you only make it more outstanding where you messed up.

    Organic Perspective

The same as above think carfully about your lineweight and do not try to correct mistakes.

I hope that my critic was helpful i really appreciate you effort in drawabox. (English is not my native message, i hope everything i said was understandable)

    Next Steps:

I would suggest to revisit Tables of Ellipses , Ellipses are a great tool to draw in perspective and need allot of practice. And remember to take your time and slow down. Keep on drawing, i think with drawabox you will improve fast.

    Have a nice Day :D

When finished, reply to this critique with your revisions.

At first i want to say you did a great job, your ghosted lines are very precise and also the circles on the funnels are pretty nice. The biggest problem i can see is the understanding of perspective, but dont worry this is normal, in the 250 box challenge perspective will make much more sense.

Another thing that i want to mention is the use of line weight. Line weight is not a must, but it helps communicate the form to the viewer. Only apply line Weight to the silhouette. It will help allot when objects start to overlap each other. For Example in the Organic Perspective exercise you added some line weight to clarify witch box is in front. But remember only thicken the line if the line is part of the silhouette. Also dont use line weight to hide Mistakes, one extra pass is often enough. Every stroke you do in draw a box needs to be ghosted even if you add line weight.

    Next Steps:

I think you can go to the 250 Box challenge, i would recommend to practice line weight in the box challenge.

Have a nice Day and keep on drawing :D,

Thank you for your fast reply,

If i understand correct, i should focus more on getting confident lines and try to avoid correcting them while drawing.

The same goes for ellipses, at first comes the correct fluent ellipse, then the width and height.

Another part you mentioned was the lineweight, i will try to make it more subtlety and carefully.

I will directly start with the 250 boxes and try to think about your words.

A lot of my students use these. The last time I used them was when I was in high school, and at the time I felt that they dried out pretty quickly, though I may have simply been mishandling them. As with all pens, make sure you're capping them when they're not in use, and try not to apply too much pressure. You really only need to be touching the page, not mashing your pen into it.

In terms of line weight, the sizes are pretty weird. 08 corresponds to 0.5mm, which is what I recommend for the drawabox lessons, whereas 05 corresponds to 0.45mm, which is pretty close and can also be used.
