Alright. Yeah, I'm starting to see why you put so much emphasis on boxes. They seem to help you figure out how to orient and place things in 3D space, and how to map out contours.

Went on a bit of a camera tangent since the elipses gave me some trouble, among other things. Also here's page 5 oriented correctly: http://imgur.com/32Yq1BX

Yeah, I was aware that I was overshooting the lengths when I was drawing, but it was too late really to fix it at the stage I was in upon discovery. Guess I just have to observe more carefully.

As you'll see, I just followed a rhythm of 1 lay in, 2 detailed drawings, and some notes per page, since the format requirement wasn't really specified at that level.

The spider I referenced had larger, isolated hairs coming straight off the surface like that, which is why I drew them at a more direct 90 degree angle. Here is an example pic where you can see if you look at the black hairs: http://i.livescience.com/images/i/000/059/609/original/male-wolf-spider.jpg?1385162811

Since that sheet you referenced seemed to indicate direct tangents are bad, I'm curious as to how you would handle drawing that. Leave the black hairs out entirely, or angle them a bit more?

This may have gotten overlooked, I'm reposting it again from earlier.

As you requested, sorry this took so long:

I'll admit, it still feels a bit awkward drawing this way. It's hard to draw the complex curvatures as accurate as I like with a one line mark (and they aren't arbitrarily created like in previous exercises, the arrow one for instance, where you can just sorta wing it.) Especially since you can't adjust or correct yourself afterward, but I suppose that's the point.

Oh darn. Sorry, I wasn't aware, and a day too late it seems. However, I feel like I've been benefiting from the exercises so I'm willing to support you. I'll message you when I do.

Here is my lesson 2 work:

Things got a little messy for some pages as I was trying to figure things out, especially during form intersections, which was difficult as you warned.

Ok, I'll just feel it out when I draw then. Thanks.

I'll try to clarify. The stuff about the ellipses I understand from watching the videos and whatnot. The S curves in figure 1.1 on your lesson page is what I'm referring to. For example, the contour lines running down Power Girls outfit, how do you determine the way those lines should travel to convey the form?

I have a question before I begin this lesson. How do know exactly in what way to bend your curving form lines (the ones in between the form edges that pass through the contour ellipses) to conform to the shape and curvature of the form? I've had trouble comprehending this in the past because it seems random. I don't really know when to start curving towards the edges or the center of the form, and where exactly the lines should swoop and dip.

NeoEXMaster in the post "OPTIONAL CHALLENGE: 250 Cylinders"

I think that was due to the fact that I was just ready to get the last 10 over with and start grading. I have to watch out for falling off like that and maintain consistency. These exercises take a lot of time and patience to get through, so it's easy to fall into the trap of getting tired and wanting to just get it done.

This was a tough challenge, but I feel I'll refine more with time.

Finished this up. I tried to be mindful of the criticism you gave me during lesson 1 (the gist of it was ease up on the sloppiness) when I did this. I'll probably start tackling at the cylinder challenge next (unless you want me to start lesson 2) if you feel this acceptable.
