congratulations on finishing lesson 1 let's see what you've got here.

Lines

Super Imposed Lines: I see you ware fraying on both ends, it is normal to fray in one end since accuracy comes with practice, but try to start your lines from the point you've designated to be the beginning https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/8/fraying .

Ghosted Lines: some of your lines are overshooting the second dot, that is not a big deal, but just try to stop the pen when hitting the second point, if you still have some problem with it check this link https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/9/lifthand

Ghosted Planes: you did a really good job on the ghosted planes, nothing much to say here.

Ellipses

Tables of Ellipses: Great job in here with the ellipses.

Ellipses in Planes: You did the exercises correctly and I see you even pointed out your own mistakes, nice job here too.

Ellipses in Funnels: Well done in here too, I see you did some different shapes in there too but I think that is alright.

Boxes

Plotted Perspective: everything normal here, the boxes are nicely done.

Rough Perspective: I see some of your lines are a little bit wobbly, don't be afraid to be inaccurate, focus on your flow and accuracy will come with practice, if you miss a line just keep going, I know it can be a little frustrating but it helps you to lose the habit of trying to correct the lines with multiple strokes.

Rotated Boxes: good job on the rotated boxes.

Organic Perspective: nothing much to add here, your organic perspective looks nice to me.

Next Steps:

overall you did a really good job on lesson 1, your lines are nicely done and I think you are ready to start the 250 boxes challenge, nothing wrong with keeping track of time btw, and trust me, the 250 boxes challenge will take a little longer then lesson 1 but don't quit, be patience and you'll be able to see your own growth in the long run. Keep up the good studies.

Hello there! I will try to give you a feedback on your submission for lesson 1 to my best of knowledge. First of all, in my opinion your lesson 1 exercises in total is a solid submission, all exercises are correct to me, showing improvement, with minor issues that I will manage to point out.

For the lines exercises, your lines look confident, having a good flow ( especially ghosting lines, I love that one! ). The only things I need to mention is double fraying on superimposed lines, in which exercise you must take your time and place the pen at the start of the line, each time you execute it. Low cases of curving can be seen on your ghosted planes, but that is something normal, just remember to focus on training the usage of your shoulder while executing each line at your certain, prefered angle. Nevertheless, solid attempt, good job!

The ellipse exercises also look good, using 2 rotations, with low cases of bumpy lines. I will indicate, with reference to ellipses in planes, that you should ghost a bit more, in order to tighten these rotations after a while. Moving on, funnels look solid, with just one or two misaligned ellipses ( I am just not sure and confident enought to critique the ellipses you did at the right of the funnels, since I personally do not remember them being mentioned in the exercises). As I see, you get the point of each exercise anyway !

On the final section, plotted perspective looks very clean, I would have recommended giving some extra lineweight where needed. Rough perspective is great too. I recommend if you ever do a related warmup, to start ghosting the line from the vp, helped me quite a lot. The weak point for most people in this exercise is the far off edges not reaching the vp, but it's not bad, you will progress. The rotated boxes looks fantastic, and is tough one, alongside the previous exercise. Boxes look tight to each other. You will understand exercises like this more on the 250 box challenge, as far as I know. Finally, in rotated boxes, most boxes have shallow foreshortening and look good, following the path set. However, there are some instances, where ( from my point of view ), I get confused and cannot figure out properly the path some of the boxes take. But I think things will get more clear on the 250 box challenge.

One final thing to mention, I tend to say that there are some cases of bumpy lines or misalignment. In all cases frankly, these are very few, and do not constitute the majority, so you should not worry at all. In general, I recommend you keep in mind to do warmups from time to time, not burn out with the exercises or rush, and keep the dedication high pal!

Next Steps:

As said, do some usual warm ups, and move on to the 250 box challenge whenever you feel ready.

Like the Staedtlers, these also come in a set of multiple weights - the ones we use are F. One useful thing in these sets however (if you can't find the pens individually) is that some of the sets come with a brush pen (the B size). These can be helpful in filling out big black areas.

Still, I'd recommend buying these in person if you can, at a proper art supply store. They'll generally let you buy them individually, and also test them out beforehand to weed out any duds.
