Cool! So, you showed a lot more diversity in the orientation of the boxes. There are some boxes that get mixed up regarding its type of foreshortening, but as a whole, it's a great improvement. They're cleaner, more consistent, more diverse and you're noticing your own mistakes, which is great. I think you're ready to move on to Lesson 2. Congratulations!

Next Steps:

  • Move on to Lesson 2.

  • Keep practicing your boxes during your warm-ups.

Hello, again

Hmm so I did want to return the favor but I am far behind compared to you. So I’m not sure how to help you out. Do you have any ideas?

I can critique semi-realistic or realistic artwork or photo studies. I guess I can critique on proportions (since that is important in any art style) but what I mentioned before is more what I have experience on.

I do really appreciate that you gave me two critiques and even looked at my corrections.

Oh, don't worry about it! It's no problem. If you want, you can help other people around here, it will be good for you and will also make it easier if you have to post your homework for the spreadsheet on Discord ^^

Ellipse Master Template

Ellipse Master Template

This recommendation is really just for those of you who've reached lesson 6 and onwards.

I haven't found the actual brand you buy to matter much, so you may want to shop around. This one is a "master" template, which will give you a broad range of ellipse degrees and sizes (this one ranges between 0.25 inches and 1.5 inches), and is a good place to start. You may end up finding that this range limits the kinds of ellipses you draw, forcing you to work within those bounds, but it may still be worth it as full sets of ellipse guides can run you quite a bit more, simply due to the sizes and degrees that need to be covered.

No matter which brand of ellipse guide you decide to pick up, make sure they have little markings for the minor axes.
