Hi there!

Some of my very old drawings, some graphite drawings of (from?) last year (my 1st attempt of DaB...gave up, dont know why...maybe I just forgot) and some recent drawings (2nd attempt - just finished lesson one). No drawing in the meantime.

I hope that this time I won't give up. Guess my problem is being a fcking perfectionist...I don't like that.

Greetings from germany!

Hello,

It’s nice to share them. I wish I still had my old drawings, so I can tell myself ‘hey, see how you improved over years?’ and tell mister perfectionnist to go and mess up anywhere else.

I like particularly the first one with the fish (looks like the 2 at bottom are talking to each other) the snail and the bee. And I think the rabbits drawings show how you used the lessons materials to make them 3D like.

Welcome back to DaB and enjoy your journey

Thank you! I'm very glad my mother kept my old drawings.

The rabbits are my favourite ones right now. I draw them during lesson one and I'm happy that I could apply some techniques of DaB already. I was doodling around and they came out pretty well.

Taught me: sketching is more important than producing perfect drawings.

While I have a massive library of non-instructional art books I've collected over the years, there's only a handful that are actually important to me. This is one of them - so much so that I jammed my copy into my overstuffed backpack when flying back from my parents' house just so I could have it at my apartment. My back's been sore for a week.

The reason I hold this book in such high esteem is because of how it puts the relatively new field of game art into perspective, showing how concept art really just started off as crude sketches intended to communicate ideas to storytellers, designers and 3D modelers. How all of this focus on beautiful illustrations is really secondary to the core of a concept artist's job. A real eye-opener.
