Lesson 1: Lines, Ellipses and Boxes
6:16 PM, Sunday February 28th 2021
Can't believe I near finish point. I started in november of 2020.
When you did your ghosted planes, it's apparent that you weren't using swift lines, but it looks like you started getting the hand of using quick and confident lines when you were doing your rough perspective. Just remember to be confident in your strokes so that you don't end up with line jitter.
Next Steps:
Try redoing one page of ghosted planes, but with swift and confident lines. I suggest doing this just to see to it that you're getting in the habit of making good line work.
Tried to remade it. Seems got what you mean.
Your ghosted planes improved. Some of them still weren't quick and smooth, but you'll get better with time. I think you're ready to move on.
Next Steps:
Do the 250 box challenge.
Yeah, it's improved, but I think I need to work on this. I applied this expirience on curved lines of characters, and I like how it turned out: https://twitter.com/TheMorridis/status/1367013620459196418
Right from when students hit the 50% rule early on in Lesson 0, they ask the same question - "What am I supposed to draw?"
It's not magic. We're made to think that when someone just whips off interesting things to draw, that they're gifted in a way that we are not. The problem isn't that we don't have ideas - it's that the ideas we have are so vague, they feel like nothing at all. In this course, we're going to look at how we can explore, pursue, and develop those fuzzy notions into something more concrete.
