Amazing work! The Kim Jung Gi vibe is still there in these drawings and it's amazing, you've inspired me to look at tutorials and advice from his videos! Hope you continue this journey and have a nice day!

DOODLESOFDISHONOUR, Hey! Thanks again, I'm glad to inspire you! Eventhough, everyone have their own path, but I've found Kim Jung Gi advices quite advance for a beginners, he makes it look so easy, but you may found yourself forgetting about his incredible mileage under his belt.

I even bought his online course on drawing figures in perspective. Despite the fact, that he says it is for all levels, I found it extremely inpractical for a begginer (again, from my point of view).

I figured out that it would be more practical to just study things on an everyday basis and watch his streams on YouTube to see how he works with line weight, shading and overall draftsmanship, and then, while you are studying, just being present and ask yourself : "Ok, so how would Kim approach these, how would he make a specific mark there?" etc.

I hope that it helps on your path too! Have a wonderful week!

True, when I was looking at his advice for applying perspective to figures I thought it was interesting and tough at the same time. But testing it was amazing and I saw an improvement in my perspective! I did forget about his mileage and had to remind myself that his experience came with years of drawing and memory, which is amazing!

How are his online courses? I know it's kinda hard for a beginner as you said, but how in depth does it go into teaching about drawing figures?

Thx for the advice and have a great day!

Wow, good for you!

His online course on drawing figures almost completely ignoring basics human anatomy, well at least t does not emphasizes on that (he says that it is important to understand human body structure at a moderate level, before commiting to his course). I would recommend to acquire his course as soon as you fammiliarize yourself with human body structure, perspective and try to problem solve for a while on your own, by doing studies.

In terms of drawing figures overall - his course is quite handy, he shows how to turn body into the set of boxes and ellipses and talks some insightful stuff about his experience.

The Art of Brom

The Art of Brom

Here we're getting into the subjective - Gerald Brom is one of my favourite artists (and a pretty fantastic novelist!). That said, if I recommended art books just for the beautiful images contained therein, my list of recommendations would be miles long.

The reason this book is close to my heart is because of its introduction, where Brom goes explains in detail just how he went from being an army brat to one of the most highly respected dark fantasy artists in the world today. I believe that one's work is flavoured by their life's experiences, and discovering the roots from which other artists hail can help give one perspective on their own beginnings, and perhaps their eventual destination as well.
