Hello, I'll be reviewing your lesson 1 work. I will mostly be looking at where your weaknesses are and pointing them to you to improve., as well as giving some of my suggestions for improving your work (If there are any). Sorry for the long wait, I've been working on this since April but I got busy with the 250 boxes challenge and came back a few months later. I hope it wasn't too long for you.
LINES
-
For the superimposed lines exercise and the ghosted lines exercise the lines are fraying from both sides. This is more noticable on your curves from superimposed lines and your lines for ghosted lines. The second page of superimposed lines doesn't fray as much though so you're heading towards the right path, but ghosted lines continue to have this. If you are still struggling then try to place your pen precisely on the starting point.
-
Your lines sometimes forms an arc. This is noticable for ghosted lines but it has been reduced in ghosted planes.
-
On ghosted planes and beyond, your lines are mostly confident. It's not entirely accurate and some of the previous mistakes are still present but if you keep practicing (through warmups and future exercises) then it will get better on its own. Remember to focus more on confidence than accuracy.
ELLIPSE
-
For your table of ellipses, your ellipses are smooth and mostly tight. The bigger circles floats a bit but on the second page it starts to fit in. Floating still happens for ellipses in planes, so try to put more time into ghosting them in the future.
-
Your ellipses in tables of ellipse and ellipses in planes are drawn over more than 3 times. Yu should always draw over around 2 or 3 times, no more no less. Ellipses in funnels are drawn over less but some ellipses still have them.
-
The minor axis in the funnels area is supposed to divide the ellipses in two equal halves, but sometimes it divides the ellipses unequally. This is not severe enugh for a revision, just keep it in mind for future exercises.
Boxes
-
Your lines are just like it was from the lines exercise, but I noticed some repeating lines. Try not to repeat lines that are wobbly or riddled with mistakes, unless it actually misses by a lot.
-
Your rotated boxes looks good but for future attempts at this exercises you need to have more boxes on the corners. You currently only have 1 but as written here you should put 4 rotated boxes.
-
There are some perspective issues in organic perspective. This shouldn't warrant revisions as you will get more practice on perspective on the 250 boxes challenge.
I think you still need togo back to the rotated boxes exercise and add the other boxes. When you are done, submit them by replying to this critique. Other than that your work should be good enough for the 250 boxes challenge.
I know it 's been a while since you submitted this, you might not even be here anymore when I post this. But if you do come back and want to get your work reviewed, you should join the discord. That way you can get your work reviewed simply by asking someone else to review it 1 week after posting. Anything after lesson 1 will require ou to review the work of others (like what I am doing) so you are also giving back to the community.
Next Steps:
Go back to your old rotated box page or redo the rotated box exercise with the four boxes in each corner.
