Hey Shady4Sketcher,

Congratulations on finishing your first challenge!

It's easy to give feedback to you, cause your boxes are really well done from the start tbh.

You have straight and good lines, and boxes look neat. Boxes nr 34, 37 are the last one I noticed with one side having a wrong set of extended lines. Not much mistakes with those. The way your set of lines are converging toward VPs look really good overall, and you steadily get better at it.

You could've definitely be more subtle with the lineweight, it's overdone with lot of boxes https://d15v304a6xpq4b.cloudfront.net/lesson_images/980a575e.jpg Yours have tendency to "shout" at the viewer (using DaB vocabulary from said example picture).

Like you mentioned you are fixing the lines and I strongly recommend not doing it from here on. It's not easy to leave all the mistakes bare, but noone said DaB is easy anyways. Even in the future you can come back to your previous homework and see the evolution through your mistakes back then.

You have some great boxes where back line seems to run so well on all three directions, and everything seems to converge just right, like box nr 221.

But for future notice if you do boxes for warm-up you can study this diagram: https://m.imgur.com/8PqQLE0

It's about noticing and realizing the distances and angles of the set of lines that go towards VP. Often middle lines have small angle between them, might be near parallel. It's about practice, experience and seeing these relations in your head, not plotting out the lines towards the VPs exactly (like ghosting), but eyeballing and studying the relations between the set of lines between themselves and also with other set of lines.

Hope my feedback helped a little and made sense!

You can be proudly ready for Lesson 2, good luck!

Staedtler Pigment Liners

Staedtler Pigment Liners

These are what I use when doing these exercises. They usually run somewhere in the middle of the price/quality range, and are often sold in sets of different line weights - remember that for the Drawabox lessons, we only really use the 0.5s, so try and find sets that sell only one size.

Alternatively, if at all possible, going to an art supply store and buying the pens in person is often better because they'll generally sell them individually and allow you to test them out before you buy (to weed out any duds).
