Hi OP! I'm going to attempt to review your submission (I'm not a TA) - this is my first time reviewing though, and I'm going to try my best to do a good job!

Starting with your arrows - I think they're looking nice! I feel like your lines are confident and you're applying perspective to most arrows. In some arrows though, I feel like the spacing between the zig-zags is the same - the zig-zags should be tighter when they're deeper into space and more wide apart when they're closer to you. Overall great work.

Leaves - looking great, the flow lines are fluid and the leaves don't feel stiff to me. The only thing I would recommend here is for the drawing in the center (individual leaves extending from a branch) and the one underneath it (zig-zag edges), you skipped the constructional steps (shown here: https://drawabox.com/lesson/3/2/skipping) - don't skip that and I think you should be good to go!

Branches - just like your leaves, your branches are flowing really nicely! You maintained the thickness of the branch (I personally had some trouble with that when I was doing this exercise) and I don't see a lot of visible tails, which is great. In some branches, you're also changing the degree of the ellipses, which is awesome and helps portray 3D-ness. I notice though that you are not drawing through your ellipses, make sure to draw through them atleast twice and applying the ghosting method before you do so to get confident ellipses.

Plant drawings - I really like that you've written notes of what you learned while doing the exercise! I think that you are exhibiting understanding of construction work here and you're doing a good job. You're dividing up your forms into shapes and then building off of them/working additively, which is the main goal. However, I do feel that there are issues with line confidence here, and on some of the plants you've skipped some steps with the leaves. Your lines are not very confident in the leaves, and it looks like you go over them again to correct them/make them flow more - definitely avoid that. Our goal is to develop the confidence to draw the line in 1 go and ghosting really helps with that. I can see that in the mushroom drawing too, you did a great job of dividing it up into ellipses, but I see a lot of visible tails and going over to make the form. Having said that though, your drawings improve with every page and I do see more confident lines and leaves, especially starting from the succulents section (your cactii detail drawing is my personal favorite). I see some hatching work in the succulent section and a couple of other plants too, and I would say to avoid that too since it doesn't help with the texture. I also see line thickening and shading, but I struggle with that concept so I won't review that.

All in all OP I think you're doing a great job! Keep it up, your submission was awesome! I hope I provided you with helpful feedback and actionable steps, if not please let me know. I'm going to recommend that you move on to the next lesson.

Next Steps:

  1. Keep practing ghosting and drawing though ellipses

  2. Keep practicing ghosting lines to get confident flow

  3. Review the leaves section and make sure you're drawing the enclosing shapes before adding detail to the shape

Faber Castell PITT Artist Pens

Like the Staedtlers, these also come in a set of multiple weights - the ones we use are F. One useful thing in these sets however (if you can't find the pens individually) is that some of the sets come with a brush pen (the B size). These can be helpful in filling out big black areas.

Still, I'd recommend buying these in person if you can, at a proper art supply store. They'll generally let you buy them individually, and also test them out beforehand to weed out any duds.
