Lesson 1: Lines, Ellipses and Boxes
3:37 PM, Tuesday February 15th 2022
Sorry I forgot to took photos of ghosted planes without the ellipses.
It's alright. Most people actually submit their ghosted planes with ellipses in them already. I'll review your work to see if you need improvement in any areas.
Lines: Superimposed Lines look solid! There's some fraying, but that's completely normal. Ghosted Lines are solid as well! There's wobble here and there, but you seem to understand to prioritize confident lines over accuracy. The advice for Ghosted Lines mostly apply to Ghosted Planes as well.
Ellipses: The Tables of Ellipses look good! The ellipses look pretty smooth and you did a good job in fitting them in the given space. There are some ellipses that aren't touching all sides of the plane in Ellipses in Planes, but on the second page it looks like you got the hang of it. Most of your funnels look great on the Funnels exercise. There's some overlap and slight misalignments but I might just be getting a little nitpicky. I highly suggest trying to start narrow in the middle of the funnel and widen your ellipses as they move out of them for extra challenge and practice.
Boxes: There's some misalignment with one of your boxes in Plotted Perspective which is odd since we use rulers on that exercise. No big deal though I'm sure you got what you needed to learn out of it. You also did an extra frame and Uncomfortable highly encourages you don't do more than the recommended amount. https://drawabox.com/lesson/0/3/grinding Your Rough Perspective homework looks solid! You showed improvement as you progressed with the assignment. Good attempt on Rotated Boxes! Obviously not perfect (we're not trying to be perfect), but you made sure the boxes were rotating and kept the corners of the boxes close. You also made a good attempt in Organic Perspective, too! There were some weird looking boxes in the first frame, but you seemed to get better as you moved along with the assignment.
You are more than ready to move on to the 250 Box Challenge! Come back to these exercises for warm ups in the future to stay sharp. Good luck! :)
Next Steps:
Move on to the 250 Box Challenge.
Hey, I really appreciate your feedback, yeah I didnt read the grinding part, I wish I did though because I think I did more than once for every exercises just to get the hang of it first or when it looked ugly, but now I know, I will do just one and move on, then come back if I need to work on what I'm bad at. Thanks, i will move on to the 250 box now
Right from when students hit the 50% rule early on in Lesson 0, they ask the same question - "What am I supposed to draw?"
It's not magic. We're made to think that when someone just whips off interesting things to draw, that they're gifted in a way that we are not. The problem isn't that we don't have ideas - it's that the ideas we have are so vague, they feel like nothing at all. In this course, we're going to look at how we can explore, pursue, and develop those fuzzy notions into something more concrete.
