It's not necessary that you restart all of your pages, usually a full lesson redo is only asked when the TA believes the student didn't put enough effort on their part to try to understand the lesson material, while your work has a lot of issues, I do believe you have made decent effort, you just need to address some fundamental problems. It's also important to note that a full lesson redo can only be assigned by Uncomfy, as it would require you to submit your new homework again, and thus require of you extra credits.

it seems that I didn't fill out the next steps box in my last reply and I'm really sorry about that. However, while you don't need to do a full lesson revision, I still feel a heavy round of revisions is necessary.

Please only reply with 1 page, half of leaves, half of branches, and 6 plant construction pages for your revisions.

Next Steps:

1 page, half of leaves, half of branches.

6 plant construction pages.

When finished, reply to this critique with your revisions.

Hello RichyKing46, thank you for getting back to me with your revisions.

While you have addressed some of the issues I've raised in my original critique - which is good - you've also not addressed some of the more harmful problems I've discussed previously such as:

  • You are still pre-planning how many drawings you wish to fit on a given page which causes you to draw small and limits your ability to apply the methods introduced in the lesson.

  • Not always drawing through your forms, especially branches by only drawing the minor axis, but not the outer edges when they wouldn't be visible.

  • Not making use of the methods, such as the branch construction method when it would be applicable, replacing it with single lines which don't convey any sense of form, tridimensionality, and don't help you understand how your structure sits in 3D space.

  • Leaving forms open ended, or leaving constructions unfinished.

  • At the places where you do make use of the methods introduced you are inconsistent with it.

  • At times you are still zigzagging your edge detail or almost completely replacing the original form of the leaf with the new shape of the edge detail.

You've also missed the 1 page of leaves and branches that I assigned alongside your revisions. Please revisit my feedback and the relevant lesson material, once you're finished please reply with:

1 page, half of leaves, half of branches.

6 pages of plant constructions, only 1 plant construction per page, drawn as big as you can.

Next Steps:

1 page, half of leaves, half of branches.

6 pages of plant constructions, only 1 plant construction per page, drawn as big as you can.

When finished, reply to this critique with your revisions.

Cottonwood Arts Sketchbooks

These are my favourite sketchbooks, hands down. Move aside Moleskine, you overpriced gimmick. These sketchbooks are made by entertainment industry professionals down in Los Angeles, with concept artists in mind. They have a wide variety of sketchbooks, such as toned sketchbooks that let you work both towards light and towards dark values, as well as books where every second sheet is a semitransparent vellum.
