Thank you for replying!

Sorry for the late reply, I was doing the 250 box challenge and hadn't checked-in in a while. Kinda wish I did this before I did the challenge, but I'm just thankful that someone replied.

So, firstly, I made sure to apply the ghosting method for each line. Second, I'm practicing putting in more ellipses for warm-up. Third, I put in four addition boxes ???? in the rotated box section, and the corner boxes. Fourthly, I added the organic perspective with overlaying boxes. I believe that were all the instructions given and completed.

I definitely see what you mean by using the ghosting method to get more confident lines. It definitely seems better, if only by slightly. I definitely need to draw more ellipses, but at least I'm drawing through them now. I've looked a bit into lesson 2 since I finished the 250 box challenge and I kinda see why you wanted me to draw over other boxes in the rotated box excercise. Drawing is about giving the illusion of depth, and by overlaying the boxes we are achieving this. This was a good warm-up for what is to come.

Moving forward, I gotta make sure I draw confidently and get some ellipses practice in. I also gotta post my 250 box challenge cause I haven't don't that yet.

But yeah, thank you so much for helping me on my journey to being a good artist. Again, I'm sorry this reply is so late. I'm bad with notifications. Also, I do believe that this was pretty harsh, but this was literally, genuinely, exactly what I wanted. Overall, this review has helped me tons, and I'll be sure to look to the community for help in the future.

Thanks a ton!

Hey again Perkfever,

Good work on these revisions ! One optional additional thing I'd advise you to do is to apply some subtle lineweight to the silhouette of your boxes (in both exercises) as well as hatching (in the rotated boxes exercise) to add more clarity & to show which boxes are in front of others, but I'm not going to ask you to submit a second revision for that.

It looks like you've understood the point of these exercises, so I'll go ahead and mark this lesson as complete. Congrats !

Cheers

Lef

Next Steps:

Since you've already completed the 250 boxes challenge, you can also add 1-2 boxes to each of your warmups.

This community member feels the lesson should be marked as complete, and 2 others agree. The student has earned their completion badge for this lesson and should feel confident in moving onto the next lesson.

The Art of Brom

The Art of Brom

Here we're getting into the subjective - Gerald Brom is one of my favourite artists (and a pretty fantastic novelist!). That said, if I recommended art books just for the beautiful images contained therein, my list of recommendations would be miles long.

The reason this book is close to my heart is because of its introduction, where Brom goes explains in detail just how he went from being an army brat to one of the most highly respected dark fantasy artists in the world today. I believe that one's work is flavoured by their life's experiences, and discovering the roots from which other artists hail can help give one perspective on their own beginnings, and perhaps their eventual destination as well.
