Hang in there!

Next Steps:

Hello!

Congratulations on getting through your first lesson!

Critique:

Lines: Your lines shouldn't wobble. In Drawabox, you should always prioritize confidence over accuracy. More regularly practice the ghosting method till you're at ease with your shoulder. It's a little tough at first, but it'll come in handy in the subsequent sessions.

Ellipses: The majority of your ellipses are smooth. However, the accuracy is not high; your ellipse needs to touch all four sides. With Funnels, the ellipse is quite aligned with the central minor axis line.

Boxes:

Rough Perspective: You align fairly well, despite the shaky lines.

Rotated Boxes: The box's bottom proportions on the left and right aren't ideal, but the top is fairly decent.

Organic Perspective: They are pretty well done.

Now that you've completed the first stage, you may either continue practicing what I just mentioned or move on to the 250-box challenge. I'm confident you're prepared. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for critiquing my work!! I agree with everything you said, especially the line wobbliness - my lines get quite a bit wobbly, I often find myself not being patient with myself and ghosting not as much as I need to but I do really need to keep this in mind - also drawing from the shoulder is something I always slip out of. Thanks again !!

It's also more than that - it's a hand-picked recommendation of something I've used myself. If you're interested, here is a full list.
PureRef

PureRef

This is another one of those things that aren't sold through Amazon, so I don't get a commission on it - but it's just too good to leave out. PureRef is a fantastic piece of software that is both Windows and Mac compatible. It's used for collecting reference and compiling them into a moodboard. You can move them around freely, have them automatically arranged, zoom in/out and even scale/flip/rotate images as you please. If needed, you can also add little text notes.

When starting on a project, I'll often open it up and start dragging reference images off the internet onto the board. When I'm done, I'll save out a '.pur' file, which embeds all the images. They can get pretty big, but are way more convenient than hauling around folders full of separate images.

Did I mention you can get it for free? The developer allows you to pay whatever amount you want for it. They recommend $5, but they'll allow you to take it for nothing. Really though, with software this versatile and polished, you really should throw them a few bucks if you pick it up. It's more than worth it.
