Hi JackPagan!
I've checked out you submission, and first of all, it looks much better of what you describe!
I wanna start out with your line control, It's not bad, in fact, for a starter it's normal. You will hear this all along DaB, you have to do things at the best of your current ability, and it looks like you are doing that! Remember, the important thing about your lines it's confidence; confidence>accuaracy. Just cement this into your mind.
On the same note, Checking your ellipses I see that most of the time you are going through them 3 times. I supposed that you are doing this to compensate the problem that you say you have about line control. I don't recomend you doing this. You should go through them only two times as it says in the lessons, the reasons it's only two it's for you two make up for some of the ellipse mess on the second pass. But when yo do more than 2 pass, it actually get's messier!
Your boxes exercises in general look good, it seems like you have some previous knowledge on perspective, which is always good and handy. I really like how you went all out with your organic perspective and other exercises! I always recomend newcommers to make the most of every exercise and lesson, fill the page, it's better to make a mess because you did too much, than having blank spaces that you could have taken advantage of, it looks like you are already doing this so I can only tell you to keep it up! it will pay off in the future.
However, it's not everything rosy in the garden, when looking at your organic boxes, I cannot help to notice that a lot of lines don't reach the corners, as it you are afraid of overshooting your lines, and this makes your lines to not look confident. This is normal. It really happens to everyone. though, this doesn't mean that it cannot be fixed! First, I wanna repeat; confidence>accuaracy, you gotta use the ghosting method and when you feel confident, make the line. If it overshoots, it's okay, that gets better over time and practice, what's really important it's that you strive for your lines to look confident!
Also, it's good that you submit this even knowing that you make mistakes, it's really a big step to doing getting better! You will start realizing during DaB that mitakes are the best thing that could happen to us, because if you can see the mistakes, you can see something that you can improve, and if you see something that you can improve, if you work on it, you are going to get better! This is better because you get someone to mark mistakes and tell you how can you improve at them in every single lesson! So, make the most of it.
One last thing, not a big one though. Try to advance to the next lesson or challenge when someone checks your stuff and tells you to. I know you started the 250 box challenge because of enthusiasm and wanting to get better, which are the best qualities to have in this course in my opinion. However, patience it's almost a better quality, specially if you want to get better at art. Obviously patience doesn't appear overnight, you gotta work on it. And as I say, you are waiting for someone to tells you in which ways you can improve, so you can have them in mind on your next step.
I'm gonna mark this lesson as complete, keep on the good work, the enthusiasm, and face up the next challenge with confidence!
Next Steps:
Although you have already start the 250 box challenge, don't restart it, just let me tell you some advice.
This challenge it's all about determination and constancy, try to do it on a daily basis if you can, and you don't just regularly. And always warm up before getting into drawing them, it really helps.
The best of lucks!
