so, I left lesson 1 a little frustrated even though I know this is what's supposed to come out but ... still it's hard to make three pages of something you know is going to come out bad except I have some issues that I'm not sure if it's really a problem or have it for everyone First of all my lines go through the dots both at the beginning and at the end and secondly because of the first thing I tend to start my lines from the original point and not from the line hope you understand and thank you very much to anyone who is going to bring me a some feedback on this!

you seem to understand what was required!

Your superimposed lines are great, however I can see during long distance lines tend to be quite curved upwards. The exercise for ghosted lines describes how to avoid this, you basically try and curve it the opposite way which will end up offsetting the original curve to make it go straight.

Your ghosted lines seem pretty good, except right at the start, for most of them I can see them bend a little bit at the start but I think you'll be able to avoid doing this if you just be more mindful when you put the pen on the page, a little bit of practice won't hurt.

your ellipses are amazing - they don't wobble and they mostly fit in the spaces you drew for them. You're also drawing through so well done!

Your rough perspective is actually quite good, I think we all suck at this one haha. The first page has some wobbly lines, but you improved as you kept going. Your rotated boxes are very good too, you seem to have a good understanding of 3D space

For your organic perspective exercise, the lessons said to not converge the lines too much and rather only focus on size. It would probably be better if you did it with only a small convergence as that would make it look a lot better! use the y method (it's in the notes for the lessons) to draw your boxes, making sure the sets of lines are parallel. I think you'll be able to improve this with the 250 box challenge.

About the issues you said:

Don't worry about your lines going through both of the dots, instead of ending at the 2nd dot, they are still accurate enough. You will get better at this with practice but for now it's not so bad.

Next Steps:

You should do the 250 box challenge as this will help with the issues you experienced with the organic perspective exercise.

Thank you very much! I really appreciate the fact that your review came after only 2 hours after I submitted my homework.

Color and Light by James Gurney

Color and Light by James Gurney

Some of you may remember James Gurney's breathtaking work in the Dinotopia series. This is easily my favourite book on the topic of colour and light, and comes highly recommended by any artist worth their salt. While it speaks from the perspective of a traditional painter, the information in this book is invaluable for work in any medium.
