All feedback would be greatly appreciated!

I thought I took a picture of my Ghosted Planes before doing the Ellipses in Planes, but apparently I was wrong, so that's missing from the homework.

There are a lot of pen marks on Plotted Perspective and Rough Perspective. I'm not sure why, as I was using the same fineliner pens for all the exercises. Sorry about that!

I particularly struggled with the Organic Perspectives homework. So much foreshortening on my boxes.

Thanks everyone! I've really been enjoying learning from this site.

Hi Peaslepuff, I'm Domidii! I finished the first lesson only recently like you so I'd recommend taking my advice with a grain of salt:

  • The only critique that I can say about the early work is the linework that came off the corner in the first page. I do not remember if it was a part of the example, but it might be concerning if your line exits the page; not seeing the full lines makes it harder to notice accuracy later down the line.

  • While I do like your ellipses and their general structure, I would also recommend trying some circles as well. Additionally, I would recommend rotating the page (if you were not already) and working on horizontal ellipses a little more so you can develop drawing them in different orientations.

  • Some later overall mistakes that might be good to point out the tendency for linework to rotate to the right a bit too much. I would recommend holding your pen over the paper after placing your first point and visualizing how that line will end up. Another way (although later in drawing a plane or plane) is utilizing previously drawn lines to parallelize with, visualizing that orientation and doing the previous advice to plot the following points

Other than that, nice work! I am especially impressed that your Ellipses in Planes and Rotated Boxes are accurate to the main examples! Personally, I had some trouble with the spacing and distortion of getting the boxes to rotate, but can do decently when it comes to organic perspective.

Hi Domidii! Thanks for your critique. :) I'm happy to say that after drawing ~60 boxes in the 250 box challenge, I have finally been able to start doing what you suggested:

utilizing previously drawn lines to parallelize with, visualizing that orientation and doing the previous advice to plot the following points.

Sometimes it takes awhile for things like this to "click" with my brain, and I was having such a hard time visualizing the orientation, but I wanted to let you know that this advice has been really helpful as I work towards completing the 250 box challenge. Thanks again!

Like the Staedtlers, these also come in a set of multiple weights - the ones we use are F. One useful thing in these sets however (if you can't find the pens individually) is that some of the sets come with a brush pen (the B size). These can be helpful in filling out big black areas.

Still, I'd recommend buying these in person if you can, at a proper art supply store. They'll generally let you buy them individually, and also test them out beforehand to weed out any duds.
