Hello community, finally got around to re-doing lesson 1 after having stoped on just before finishing it about a year ago.

Would love some feedback, I did these in a sort of meditative way, paying close attention to my body, posture, tension whilst tracing every line. This helped me notice and correct some of the causes of "spasm" like behaviour in my arms.

Overall pretty satisfied but lets see what you guys think. Now starting the 250 box challenge and keen to start lesson 2.

Thanks

Hey Fanzy, this is a solid effort. Keep it up!

If I had to offer a nitpick, I would say then when you’re doing your ghosted lines (which is every line in this program) spend more time planning and rehearing before you make your stroke. I’m seeing a few drawn-over lines in, for example, your organic perspective exercises. One of the reasons this program is done in pen is because it encourages you to take your time and plan your lines carefully before you commit, and then live with the lines you put down once you do. This is a point I’ve struggled with myself.

This community member feels the lesson should be marked as complete, and 2 others agree. The student has earned their completion badge for this lesson and should feel confident in moving onto the next lesson.

Hey Hankart,

thanks for the feedback, yeah drawing past the point is something im still working on, although seeing significant progress on this by just being more confident with my lines.

I started by drawing my lines fast to ensure they're straight, but the more confident i get the more i can get a straight controlled line without speeding up through it, which lets me control where i finish better.

For the organic perspective you might see what you're describing but that might be because upon placing a dot i realised the shape wouldn't have worked and so placed another one which i hit but leaving the first one in the air.

Another issue i seem to have is wanting to fix my lines too much which ends up adding line weight and making that line/mistake just more prominent. Also working on that :)

Cottonwood Arts Sketchbooks

These are my favourite sketchbooks, hands down. Move aside Moleskine, you overpriced gimmick. These sketchbooks are made by entertainment industry professionals down in Los Angeles, with concept artists in mind. They have a wide variety of sketchbooks, such as toned sketchbooks that let you work both towards light and towards dark values, as well as books where every second sheet is a semitransparent vellum.
