Hello! First off, congrats on taking your first steps here. I can say first handed that this program is a fantastic help and I'm quite sure you'll find you've spend your time well here. Anyways, on with it then!

Firstly, I wanna say that your lines are very consistently confident and that is a huge part of this first lesson. It's definitely one of the most important things to develop during this lesson. Below I will quickly highlight the pros and con of your individual homeworks.

  1. Superimposed lines, ghosted lines and ghosted planes- You've done well to create consistently confident strokes but remember that your lines shouldn't feather at the beginning, only at the end. Make sure you are placing your pen on the dot ever time before you start a stroke. This is recurring theme throughout these homeworks and is not a big problem as you've only recently begun! Make sure to keep this in mind as you move forward though.

  2. Tables of ellipses, ellipses in planes and funnels- Good work on drawing through your ellipses two to three times. Though you've certainly done these as directed, I would suggest you try to vary the degree of your ellipses a little more in the funnels exercise.

  3. Plotted, rough and organic perspectives + rotated boxes- Very nicely done! Your boxes are solid and you seem to be doing well in getting close to the imagined vanishing point. There are a few boxes with extra attempts at lines. To minimize these errors make sure you are taking your times with ghosting everything before putting your pen to the page. Very nice work on the rotated boxes by the way, those look great and that's not an easy one either!

Next Steps:

You're good to move on to Lesson 2 now! Have fun and keep that line confidence you've been adhering so well to!

Pentel Pocket Brush Pen

Pentel Pocket Brush Pen

This is a remarkable little pen. Technically speaking, any brush pen of reasonable quality will do, but I'm especially fond of this one. It's incredibly difficult to draw with (especially at first) due to how much your stroke varies based on how much pressure you apply, and how you use it - but at the same time despite this frustration, it's also incredibly fun.

Moreover, due to the challenge of its use, it teaches you a lot about the nuances of one's stroke. These are the kinds of skills that one can carry over to standard felt tip pens, as well as to digital media. Really great for doodling and just enjoying yourself.
