Welcome to drawabox, and congrats on completing Lesson 1. I’ll be taking a look at it for you!

Starting off, your superimposed lines are looking good. They’re smooth, properly lined up at the start, and of a consistent trajectory. I do get the feeling that you’re drawing them a little faster than you need to, though, so consider taking some time to figure out your ideal speed. The ghosted lines/planes look quite confident, too, save for the occasional hesitation near the start of them. Be careful that you’re not spending so long lining up your pen, that you’re losing the built-up rhythm. Also, remember that you’re meant to be drawing each line once, and only once, regardless of how they turn out. In other words, if a line comes out wrong, do not correct it – simply leave it as is.

Save for those ones at the top, that don’t always have a goal (as per their frame missing left and right edges), the table of ellipses exercise looks good. Your ellipses are smooth, rounded, and properly drawn through. They’re not always drawn through the correct amount, however. Recall that you’re meant to be going around them a minimum of 2 times, and no more than 3. The ellipses in planes are mostly good. You’ll get a little overwhelmed sometimes, and they’ll come out bumpy, or pointy, but I can tell that you’re aiming for them to be smooth, and rounded, first and foremost – keep that up. The funnels are fairly well done, also. The only thing to be mindful of is your minor axis – it needs to extend all the way through your ellipses. Or, conversely, if there’s no more axis to align an ellipse to, simply don’t add another one. An ellipse aligned to nothing is of no use to us.

The plotted perspective exercise looks good, though you should’ve used a ruler for the hatching lines.

The rough perspective exercise starts off strong, and shows some nice improvement throughout the set. Linework is quite good, also – the only issue with it being the automatic reinforcing, though we’ve already discussed that.

The rotated boxes exercise is missing reminder boxes to its left and right, but that’s okay. Unsurprisingly, however, as a result of it, the boxes along the horizontal axis have a harder time rotating. Still, you’ve done your best to keep them snug, so they’re not entirely off. For now, this is perfectly fine; as you progress through the box challenge, you’ll gain enough knowledge to be able to make some more informed decisions here, and that’s when this’ll really come into itself. By the way, regarding hatching, try not to use your wrist for it.

Slight misunderstanding with the organic perspective exercise… a box that’s overlapping another should not hide its lines. Other than that, and the occasional issue with the increase in size of your boxes, they flow quite well, as per their consistent, shallow foreshortening. Keep up the good work.
