Just finished lesson 1, I would love to hear anyone's feedback. I had a lot of trouble getting comfortable with drawing from my shoulder which is why you might see a lot of rough lines, but eventually I worked it out and my lines started improving.

You did a good job on lesson 1 and I can see your improvement through the exercises and getting comfortable drawing from your shoulder. You also drew through your ellipses smoothly and kept them on the minor axis in the funnel exercise. The only critique I would say is some of your lines look wobbly in the rough perspective. I think that comes from comfortability drawing from your shoulder as you mentioned and making sure your not drawing from your wrist. Add some of these exercises into your warm up and keep up the great work :)

Next Steps:

Your off to a great start. I would just suggest practicing getting comfortbale drawing from your shoulder by drawing ellipses and planes. Ellipses will help a lot as you go to lesson 2 and beyond and the planes will help build confidence in your lines especially as you tackle the box challenge.

Thank you for the feedback! I will practice my ellipses and planes while I wait for more feedback on my exercises, I took a peek at the next lesson and I think I'll need the practice.

Pentel Pocket Brush Pen

Pentel Pocket Brush Pen

This is a remarkable little pen. Technically speaking, any brush pen of reasonable quality will do, but I'm especially fond of this one. It's incredibly difficult to draw with (especially at first) due to how much your stroke varies based on how much pressure you apply, and how you use it - but at the same time despite this frustration, it's also incredibly fun.

Moreover, due to the challenge of its use, it teaches you a lot about the nuances of one's stroke. These are the kinds of skills that one can carry over to standard felt tip pens, as well as to digital media. Really great for doodling and just enjoying yourself.
