Lesson 1: Lines, Ellipses and Boxes
1:15 AM, Monday October 11th 2021
Just finished lesson 1 and I want to know if I can move on
Lines Section
Superimposed Lines: Amazing start! Slight wobble and inaccuracy, but this will improve with practice.
Ghosted Lines: Very well done here! There is line confidence and accuracy, with very little fraying.
Ghosted Planes: Line confidence and accuracy improved here, with little to no wobbling.
Ellipses Section
Table of Ellipses: Ellipses are drawn tightly, with little fraying.
Ellipses in Planes: Most ellipses are touching all sides of the planes. Was a slight drop in line confidence.
Funnels: For the most part, your funnels are evenly divided across the minor axis. Although, you could use a bit more changes in the degree of your ellipses.
Boxes Section
Plotted Perspective: Good job here!
Rough Perspective: Slight wobble in some lines. Good improvement in lines projecting to vanishing points.
Rotated Boxes: Well done. Its clear that you used your neighbouring boxes to pinpoint the locations of the others with careful planning. Some boxes change angle, but this will improve with practice.
Organic Perspective: Confident lines without having to draw through them, and good construction of your boxes.
Overall, well done! You will improve from here on out.
Next Steps:
250 Box Challenge
These are my favourite sketchbooks, hands down. Move aside Moleskine, you overpriced gimmick. These sketchbooks are made by entertainment industry professionals down in Los Angeles, with concept artists in mind. They have a wide variety of sketchbooks, such as toned sketchbooks that let you work both towards light and towards dark values, as well as books where every second sheet is a semitransparent vellum.
