Hey hey! I admit that i'm feeling very unconfident in the quality of my work so far. There's a lot of sloppyness and wobbles in the lines even with me being pretty certain that i'm following the guide to the line. Been locking my joints, drawing fast and confident, following trajectory, etc etc. Would be helpful to know if i'm on the right track or if there's something i'm missing to where i should try and redo the exercises with newfound knowledge. Sorry if this is vauge or if i'm doing a big mistake!

They’re definitely a little lacking in confidence. For these exercises, and, actually, for this entire course, it’s more important for our lines to be confident, than it is for them to be accurate. That is to say, a straight, smooth line, that misses the end point, is, technically, more correct than a wobbly, accurate one. This is because a confident line can still serve as the foundation of a solid form, whereas a wobbly line cannot. Before you move on, I’d like to see one more page, of your choosing, where your lines are as confident as you can make them. It’s important to nail this before moving on to the next exercise, because it really ups the difficulty. Be careful, by the way, to not redo lines. If a line is wrong, it’s wrong. Correcting a mistake just makes it stand out more.

If i'm honest i don't think i'm doing too much better even trying at my best. Sorry if this seems like a poor effort on my part. Really trying to do it as good as i can and i' really unsure how to exactly establish furhter "Confidence" which might just be me being a bit dumb. I appreciate the feedback still! Will try to keep at it with more attempts at just establishing confidence in lines

No worries. Ultimately, what matters is that you’re aiming for your lines to be confident. If you are, it might take a while, but they will be.

Ellipse Master Template

Ellipse Master Template

This recommendation is really just for those of you who've reached lesson 6 and onwards.

I haven't found the actual brand you buy to matter much, so you may want to shop around. This one is a "master" template, which will give you a broad range of ellipse degrees and sizes (this one ranges between 0.25 inches and 1.5 inches), and is a good place to start. You may end up finding that this range limits the kinds of ellipses you draw, forcing you to work within those bounds, but it may still be worth it as full sets of ellipse guides can run you quite a bit more, simply due to the sizes and degrees that need to be covered.

No matter which brand of ellipse guide you decide to pick up, make sure they have little markings for the minor axes.
