Hello, Sasmosaw:

Congratulations, completing this challenge is a tough challenge that tests your patience, resilience and self-improvement skills. Just finishing it's a great accomplishment.

Looking at your earlier pages it's obvious that you have improve a lot through the challenge. The boxes were pretty accurate from the beginning with the common problem of the back lines missing the convergence point. By the end of the challenge, you got rid of that problem and gained a consistency and precision that are enough to pass this challenge. Congratulations!

I'm going to give you some additional feedback, so you can improve on top of your current level, try it in some warming exercises:

  • The biggest problem you have is the fear of adding line weight to the important lines. You have to start working on this as soon as possible. In the following lessons, forms are going to be increasingly complex and one of the most effectives tools you will have to help viewers digest all that complexity is line weight. It's specially important on lines that cross over other lines so you can communicate a hierarchy of which one is above.

  • Column like boxes seem to be problematic for you, you draw a great variety of boxes and these are the ones that even at the end, show lines not converging or complete parallel lines.

  • Try both extremely large and small boxes. You have already tackled this, but being limited to place multiple boxes per page could be detrimental for your experience. I told you this having in mind future exercises you will do at drawabox in which you will have to combine bigger cubes with smaller ones, try it now and let the experience sink in the back of your head until one of the exercises appears.

  • Play around with foreshortening. The skill of drawing the correct amount of it to give different effects on your drawings develops after a lot of practice, trial and error. It's another good thing to use when warming up.

I hope my review was useful to you, if you have any doubt about this review feel free to reach me on discord (I do not promise quick responses tho).

Next Steps:

You can start lesson 2! Good luck in your journey.

Pentel Pocket Brush Pen

Pentel Pocket Brush Pen

This is a remarkable little pen. Technically speaking, any brush pen of reasonable quality will do, but I'm especially fond of this one. It's incredibly difficult to draw with (especially at first) due to how much your stroke varies based on how much pressure you apply, and how you use it - but at the same time despite this frustration, it's also incredibly fun.

Moreover, due to the challenge of its use, it teaches you a lot about the nuances of one's stroke. These are the kinds of skills that one can carry over to standard felt tip pens, as well as to digital media. Really great for doodling and just enjoying yourself.
