It took me so long to finish lesson one. I did it on and off for a few months but I finally finished it and I feel good about finishing. I would greatly appreciate feedback ????

Hi Jerry,

here to provide you with some feedback on your lesson 1 homework!

Lines

Your lines show confidence and mostly straight.

I see a subtle tendency to arching, explore rotating the sheet and training your line work from your shoulder. Chances are high you can mitigate that over time.

You lines show little amount of fraying, yet, take your time to hit the starting point of your lines to minimize it further.

Ellipses

A few of your ellipses could benefit from drawing them another round.

It’s great to see how you kept them all tight within their designated spaces!

Funnels

Explore adding more ellipses to them in the future, gradually increasing their angles.

A few of them were not cut in half by the minor axis, watch out for that over the course of the next lessons.

Plotted perspective

Your sheet with the plotted perspective look great. A recommendation would be to use line weight to highlight how they are positioned among each other.

Rough perspective

Great how they converge into the same direction. A few of your lines look rushed, take your time and plan them properly.

Rotated box

Great result. Looking closely, you will notice that you missed a few boxes on the further edge of 3 sides (top right, bottom left & right). Yet, nothing to worry about, you will draw more of them shortly ;)

Organic perspective

Enjoyed your work. Remember to use ghosting for your hatching too.

In summary, you made great progress over the course of the lessons and homework.

Wish you great success with your next steps!

How to Draw by Scott Robertson

When it comes to technical drawing, there's no one better than Scott Robertson. I regularly use this book as a reference when eyeballing my perspective just won't cut it anymore. Need to figure out exactly how to rotate an object in 3D space? How to project a shape in perspective? Look no further.
