This is my homework for ellipses.

Right off the bat I felt losing control over my shoulder/hand. Then I got somewhat allright half-way trough, and after that ultimatevely messed up. The smaller ellipses got, the worse I performed.

I feel like redoing this all over again, I do feel disheartened at all after this massacre.

Don't mind 2 pages of planes, these are mostly missing center whatsoever.

Please, take a look. Any comment will be hugely appreciated.

Also, mobile imgur messed up the order of the photos, I deeply apologise.

Hi Cutemuzzle. Ellipses are hard. Your lines do start out wobbly but they get smoother and it looks like you have a good understanding of where they should touch the edges even if they miss sometimes. There are some sharp corners as well. The important thing is to trust your ghosting and not try to correct it once your pen is on the paper.

Don't redo this or any of the exercises unless specifically asked by someone critiquing your work. The point of the exercises isn't to get to perfect first time, it's to introduce you to the concepts and demonstrate that you aren't making any fundamental mistakes which I can't see you have here. Instead add the homeworks you have completed to a 10-15min warm up of 2-3 exercises. That way you can continue to improve them without grinding

Hello, Loopylizard!

Thank you so much for the relpy.

My estimation isn't allright at all, so this might contribute to some unstable result. Also, for the smaller sircles it gets very confusing and hard to draw with my shoulder, I feel like I'm lacking control. But if it's fine for this stage I'll just accept it and hope for improvement in the future.

Well, being perfectionist is hard, but I do understand that grinding won't do any favor for me. I already implemented ellipses in my quicky routine, which I strangely had like 30-40 minutes long instead of 10-15. Seriously, I had to reread an article about grinding to notice that. Now it is fixed with a timer.

Glad I could help :). Everyone struggles with ellipses. You'll get there. It's all about muscle memory and that takes a long time.

The Art of Brom

The Art of Brom

Here we're getting into the subjective - Gerald Brom is one of my favourite artists (and a pretty fantastic novelist!). That said, if I recommended art books just for the beautiful images contained therein, my list of recommendations would be miles long.

The reason this book is close to my heart is because of its introduction, where Brom goes explains in detail just how he went from being an army brat to one of the most highly respected dark fantasy artists in the world today. I believe that one's work is flavoured by their life's experiences, and discovering the roots from which other artists hail can help give one perspective on their own beginnings, and perhaps their eventual destination as well.
