Lesson 1 completed! After a few days of figuring out how best to position myself angle wise I think I've got a comfortable position down which has reduced the amount of weight I was applying initially. The biggest difference I noticed was during todays warm-ups of ellipses they;re much smoother now than in the homework above but I know we shouldn't redo them. The rotated boxes and organic perspective was really difficult, intentionally I know! I feel like my understanding of how to rotate boxes did slightly improve after completing the rotating boxes.

Thank you for making these lessons free!

I will start by saying that your work has me impressed, all of these exercises look like they have been done to perfection and it is really satisfying to see! Honestly, the only minor error I can see is that you haven't drawn the minor axis through the entirety of your funnel on the funnels exercise, but that is just nitpicky of me to mention, because honestly, the elipses still look correct. Very well done! I wish I could help more but there is really no errors for me to point out to help you improve hahah! Keep the good work up :D

Next Steps:

Move on to the 250 box challenge you god tier artist :D

Thank you! Forgive me, I may have mixed up an exercise from a book I have that has you draw an ellipse and then the minor axis through it and then vice versa and didn't draw the minor axis all the way along the funnel! I will start on the big box challenge on Friday and do my best.

Thank you! I think my ellipses were effected by another lesson on CTRLPaint, the free traditional drawing ones. The first lesson is to just fill in a few pages of ellipses to get used to drawing with a pencil and it's the same motion so when I did the planes I had a little experience with it. I started on the 1st as part of a resolution to try drawing out!

Color and Light by James Gurney

Color and Light by James Gurney

Some of you may remember James Gurney's breathtaking work in the Dinotopia series. This is easily my favourite book on the topic of colour and light, and comes highly recommended by any artist worth their salt. While it speaks from the perspective of a traditional painter, the information in this book is invaluable for work in any medium.
